Re: Good areas for a novice "captain"
If you go out of St. Marks, once you get out on the flats if you turn east you will see a line of buoys marking the National Wildlife Refuge. I would not go inside of those buoys with your luck. I'd also get a Sea Tow membership just to be safe.

Keaton Beach 3/14
Got out on the water around 9:30. Found a good trout bite on the rising tide in 3 ft over grass. Came across a small oyster bar that had about 20 redfish on it and pulled a couple off it. Bite died when the tide turned.

Rooster tails work well. Canned corn or salmon egg bait can work well if you are on a stocked stream.

Re: Forgotten Coast
I think the book might be right. I've always heard of the Forgotten Coast being a reference to the beaches in the region. Wikipedia stops it at St. Marks.

East River
I would like to take my canoe down the east river this weekend or next. I've never been on the East River, so I hoping some of you can answer a couple questions for me. Screenshot 2021-02-12 at 10.22.41 PM.png I'm looking at launching somewhere around where the white box is. Is there anything in my ...

I'm gonna estimate the count to be 477 bullets.

Where did you guys catch most of your fish at? Creek mouths, on the flats, up the river, etc?

Re: 30.06, .270 & .243 Rifle Ammo **FOR SALE**
This is no better than people trying to sell generators for twice the price before Hurricanes or the people that were trying buy up all the N95 masks to resell at the beginning of the pandemic. If you are buying ammo for yourself that is fine, but buying it just to sell it at 3X the price is despica...

Re: St. Marks 1/29
I usually don't have trouble finding fish in the winter here. I think it was a combination of the full moon, piles of freshwater from recent rain, and the cold front rolling in after days of warm weather. Any of those can throw off the bite. I usually don't post when we aren't on the fish, but fishi...

St. Marks 1/29
Went down to St. Marks today and fished from the fort to the lighthouse. Fishing was slow, slow, slow. Ended up with one 15.5 in trout. After high tide, we decided to go up by the power plant, as I can usually catch short mangrove snapper up there this time of year. Once I got to my mangrove hole, I...

I know of several people that swear by Harden's in Thomasville. His work is good, and it takes about a year to get your head back.
Also, post a pic so we can see the deer.

Re: Econfina River questions and thoughts
I can paddle about 3-4 mph in open water, so with a decent flow it would be paddled in 4-5 hrs if you never stopped. However, deadfall changes everything. If I were to paddle it, I would allot 12 hrs of paddle time.

Re: Steinhatchee Tomorrow?
They've been stacked up in the rivers. The most recent cold snap that came through pushed them up by the fort at St. Marks and you could catch as many as you wanted to, as long as you could get a spot on the river. When it started warming up the bite got more sporadic, but I would imagine that there...
