Re: How many of you fish out of a Jon boat for inshore?

I wasn't aware that this was the thread for people wound tighter than a 1980s Evinrude sorry.

Re: How many of you fish out of a Jon boat for inshore?

I PADDLE a boat that rides in the back of my TRUCK and catch more fish that anybody else. There are a billion places to fish here, but not very many with an outboard (see Aucilla River thread in the fishing section). It's not just a matter of the tide or whatever either. It's flat out dangerous and ...

Outboard question

I have a chance to buy an old Mercury 2.2 for almost nothing. I knew somebody who had 1 back when they were new and it was ACE. I've never heard of any problems with them either. I've even read online where sailboat folks were cussing their 4 stroke 4 and 5 horsepowers after upgrading from the old 2...

Mullet fishing in the upper Econfina

...aka the freshwater part. I think my first ever post here was about Mullet fishing. I was looking for the best bait/technique. Having fished for them alot since then, I don't think that was ever the real problem. In other words, they'll bite several things just like any other fish if you just fish...

Re: Merritt's Mill Pond - Saturday 5/10

Ahh my hometown... The "shell cracker," or Red Ear Sunfish is the prize of MMP. Be careful because the minimum size (unless it has been changed) is 12". There was a vegetation outbreak years back and they have tried a variety of methods to kill it. Hydrilla took over and one of the s...

Re: Sheephead

When I was little before flats fishing was popular among average joe fishermen, my old man got a wild hair and decided we were going flats fishing. We were straight rednecks too...I mean we didn't even use rods and reels. We fished all the time but it was all cane poles and worms that we dug because...

How far have you been up Pinhook Creek (River)?

I am so bored...I've seen it mentioned a few times here. That surpasses the amount of times in my 34 years on Earth that I've heard it referenced on the whole internet, in conversation, etc. If I buy a riverboat one day, the decision will have been made in large part because I want to go as far up t...

Re: Shiners?

Here's another way to find shiners in lakes and stuff. Go wherever you've been bream fishing and wasted 67,875 worms or crickets in 1 spot and caught nothing lol! All those bites you were getting were shiners.

Re: Bream Fishing with the kids...

Perfect parenting (and fishing!). The trick that worked on me was river fishing. For some reason that we all know now (aka I didn't know back then) it was REALLY FREAKING HARD to catch those river bream unlike those pond bream. Meanwhile my folks who knew what they were doing caught the river bream ...

Re: PANFISH

Bream are my favorite food ever...ever. And bream fishing in rivers, sinkholes and creeks is still my favorite kind of fishing. Bream fishing gets a soft reputation because of how easy it is in ponds, certain lakes etc but those woods savy bream are no cakewalk. And they're yum yum.

Re: St Marks river?

I've never been to the Newport bridge but my old man used to take me to Horn Spring, the old wooden bridge and all those places way, way up the river. He caught an 8lb bass and a 6lb bass off the bank while bream fishing once. Fun times. I've since been fishing at Natural Bridge a few times and caug...

Re: St. Marks 1/2/16

  That's a great catch for sure! Sounds a lot like Pinhook Creek this time of year. I wonder if anything has made it upriver yet? I've never been up that Pinhook Creek but I've tromped around the upper (freshwater) part. As a matter of fact, I think I'm the only human being who ha...
