Re: Lanark Boat Ramp CLOSED

Yep, ramp is open, but parking is limited due a big spoil bag sitting in part of the parking lot.

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats

You have a tendency to be a smartarz. I fished first from wooden boats, then fiberglassed coated wooden boats, then fiberglass and then aluminum almost exclusively on the flats for 5 or so years. First outboard used in the gulf was a 9.5 and we thought we were in high cotton when we got an 18 ...

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats

Big Red Head, I would venture to guess that caught more fish before I turned 25 than you will ever catch in your entire life without dynamite.

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats

I've been fishing these flats for 50+ years and I have fished nearly every type boat made. My most time was spent in a 1648 fisher marine and I would not recommend a size smaller than that.

Take it from me, there is no perfect boat, but I would not venture far from shore in a ghenoe.

While it may be needed, I'm sorry, but I'm tired of big brother government coming up with more requirements!

Re: First Time Fishing Low Tide in Winter - Learning Occurred

Don't feel bad, a couple of years ago near Steinhatchee a guy in his 60's ignored the warning and got out of his small boat while duck hunting. He sank up to his waist and could not move at all without digging in deeper. No one could get to him, but the tide was rising pretty fast. They told him to ...

Re: Wear your PFD!!!

You would be surprised at the guys who are resistant to wearing a pdf. I have made several trips duck hunting to Venice and we run about 20 miles of the Mississippi with huge boat traffic. I bought and wear an inflatable, but usually, the only thing I can get guys to do is to at least put one at ...

Re: Suzuki vs. Yamaha

I ended up repowering with a yammy F150 mainly due to weight and I haven't regretted it.

A lot of working fisherman use Zukes and are very happy with their reliable service, but the ones I talked to all talked about the big price difference.

If you get the Zuke, get the white paint, because ...

After 37 years of marriage, convulsions are a sure sign that your wife is so excited by the prospect that she can't wait until it your little love nest on Shell Point.

And no, I'm not a divorce lawyer.
