Because I thought the conversion was far more complicated. Just watched a few videos and now that's the plan.

Thanks for the suggestion. Now I just need to decide on a kit.

Teleflex Safe T helm Replacement

I have a circa 2007 Safe T Teleflex helm that has quite a bit of play in it. Based on my reading, these are not units you can repair and the whole unit needs replacing. There are bolt in replacement units (Safe-T II, SS132) that seem pretty easy (relatively) to install, bit also seem to still have a...

Re: Plotter recommendation $500-1,000

Thanks. I watched the video. Unfortunately, what I got from it was that the units at the top end of my range will barely run FMT, but a lot of the features will not be fully utilized. The units that will run it well (high resolution 12" screens, processing power) are more than I'd like to spend...

Re: Plotter recommendation $500-1,000

I'm planning on sticking to the nearshore flats 99% of the time. I might venture further out on a perfect condition day, but that will be extremely rare. I'm targeting Redfish, Trout, and flounder primarily with the possibility of grouper occasionally. Not looking to get back in any bays with a 12&q...

Re: Plotter recommendation $500-1,000

I have a new to me bay boat with an 18 year old plotter/finder that needs replacing. I intend to pick up Florida Marine Tracks eventually and would like to get a unit that will run that well. Lots of recommendations for 12" screens online, but it wouldn't really fit well in the console and I'm...

Pole Barn/Metal Building Recommendations

I need to build a pole barn or metal building to house a 26 hp. Kubota Tractor, a few implements, a SXS, along with other smaller items. I'm planning on putting a lean-to on the side to serve as a boat storage cover. The primary purpose is storage to keep these things out of the weather. Won't reall...

Re: Dead horse

Jim did a rod repair for me and was professional, did the work quickly, and very reasonably priced. Repair looked great and was exactly what he said it was going to be.

Re: Trailering Opinion: play/slop is what kills your bearings.

I asked three mechanics and a trailer guy this question last year and all of them had the same answer, which is essentially what Juan said. They believed heat was the biggest enemy to a hub, not a little play. Each of them preferred a hub with a little play over one that was tight, especially at hig...

North Ga Brown Trout

My family is staying at a cabin in the Blue Ridge area and we will have a few days with access to a few streams with Brown Trout. We're going to have a few kids and inexperienced adults fishing, so fly is out if the question. What are some easy rigs for kids to pull in a few trout up there? So far I...

Re: Anyone yaking yet?

Only places I 'm familiar with to put in is the Lighthouse and Wakulla beach. Going out in a boat tomorrow with my wife. Check out Bottoms Rd or Bald Point. At Bald Point in the warmer months is it worth getting into the creeks or are you just working the oyster bars? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using ...

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats

Can anyone recommend what to look for in a used aluminum boat for this area? I'd like to comfortably fish at least two adult men, handle the flats on a nice day, and get into the creeks reasonably skinny. I get that there's nothing that can do it all, but what makes for the best compromise? Sent fro...

Re: East River

The strongest current I've experienced was after very heavy rain and it was not enough to cause difficulty paddling back upstream. If you're planning to fish the flats, you'd be much better off putting in at the ramp or next to the lighthouse. Navigation during a negative tide is dicey due to oyster...

Re: Weather and Navigation Seminar

Teaching courses to adults is hard, teaching online well is REALLY hard and it takes a lot of training and practice to make engaging online content. Hard scientist are very rarely good at communicating in a way that is both engaging and informative. All that being said, this class was not well done....
