Re: Spanish at St. Marks yesterday

If they are cooked the same day and never frozen, use butter lemon salt and pepper, put the fillet skin down and run under the broiler for 8 minutes, they are hard to beat. Or smoke'em, just chop the head and tail off, they peel apart to make a very mild smack dip. I was at St Marks in the AM and it...

Re: Aucilla River Question

I love fishing the Aucilla, but the rocks and ghost traps there won and are why I now use kayaks  . I have not lost a prop or ripped my transom apart for almost 6 years now.

Re: Popping Cork Leader Length

Using a cajun thunder (CT) or equalizer (weightless), pretie 4 leaders to 4 jig heads, 1 ft (1/8 oz) 2 ft (1/8 oz) 3 ft (1/4 oz) 4 ft (1/4 oz). Tie an overhand loop knot in the other end. Put each one in a ziplock snack bag. With a marker write the number 1 2 3 or 4 on the bags. ON the CT, thread th...

Re: Gulp!

I fish with real crab at times. For the last 3 years I have used the gulp crab at the same time, I have never caught a Red or trout on a gulp crab, sharks, but no Redtrout. I wound up chopping them up and putting them in a chum sock. The pinfish ate them.

Re: 1st ever kayak trip

Welcome to the simple life. Boga grips, fish grips, and yes a net. Also flatten the barbs, because you will get stuck. When you do, wrap the line around the hooks, then wrap it around your free hand, look away, count to 3 but pull on 2. It will pull right out if the barbs are flat, otherwise there a...

Re: Kayak Sight Fishing

Cotton gives good advice. Also, it has to be flat as glass and you have to be quiet. Did I mention you have to be quiet? Lanark, you can oftien find their tails and them sunning in the shallows (clear water) , and to the east of the Lighthouse in the creeks you can often see the tails and wakes movi...

Re: 10 FT ALWELD JON BOAT

I have a red and white one, with an orange flag with an orange noodle on the pole with an orange paddle and an orange PFD and I wear orange gloves and they still think I am a buoy to steer at. One said I looked like a big pelican, that was the best one. LOL!
