Re: Gator attacks Casselberry fisherman's kayak | Video

Carry a gun everywhere and have some situational awareness; this becomes a small problem. My rule is if one over 7' gets closer than 10' to my kayak he gets 127 grains of warning a foot in front of his nose. If they don't heed the first warning another one will find its way into their little dinosau...

Re: Piney-Z 4/29, 4/30, and 5/1

That's a darn good turnout for the brown sludge that is currently Piney-Z!

Wish I could have fished it in its glory days back before they "improved" it. I've heard tell of 50+ fish days there years ago.

Re: Bluefish any good?

Bleeding em as soon as they go into the ice chest goes a ways to making them better. They smoke pretty well. Lots of people let them soak in brine, milk or marinade overnight before cooking and then grill/fry.

Course most any fish is edible if you go to all that trouble :D

Re: Fishing from the shore

I've caught tons of fish wade fishing. Wakulla Beach, Mashes Sands, Bald Point, the shoreline a few miles above the Och. Bridge are all good places. Not much beats walking (shuffling, I should say) along in a coupe feet of water fishing topwater plugs while watching the sun come up. It'll get your b...

Re: Making some mackerel dip

If it's anything like the redfish dip I make all the time, cook until it just barely turns white, flake and mash with mayo. Add a few cloves of garlic finely diced, salt, pepper and Greek seasoning to taste as well as diced onion. Chill and dip out with crackers.

Smithwick Devil's Horse, rated #1 in reptile taste tests

Got out of class around 7 and decided to hit up one of my favorite little forest ponds for a few minutes of fishing before sunset. I don't usually get a lot of fish or any monsters but it's consistently worth at least a few fish every trip. I call it Gator Pond, on account of there being 15+ gators ...

Just be happy he didn't get forgotten and "marinate" for a couple of weeks in your livewell. Been there :o

Re: Thanks to Kevin's

Shimano's warranty is lifetime and they do not charge $15.00. We exchange them without any fee. Must be an in house fee. :smt011 Still beats coming up with your own rod tube and the $15+ish to ship it to Shimano. Then you have to wait for it to get there, for them to fix/replace it and for them to ...

Re: Plastic worms for redfish?

I read something a couple of years ago from a Louisiana angler saying that he learned to catch reds by using bass tactics. He swears by it. He says whatever will catch bass will catch reds. Landlocked reds will hit a buzzbait like it owes them money. They get confused and swim pretty far up the Wak...

Re: Piney Z 3-14 & 3-17-12

That place is my nemesis, LOL. Had a huge strike on a black buzzbait nightfishing once, but other than that it has skunked me every time. I've only ever seen one person catch a fish off a dike there and that was big mudfish that hit a kid's Rapala. I heard that they stocked it with some big ones but...

Very nice fish!

Interesting how light colored it is, even lighter than a lot of fish that come out of crystal clear water.

Re: check this pig bass out

I fished out there the other day for a few hours throwing a jig and topwater in and around all those grass mats walking around the outside, didn't do anything except jump up a 7+ foot gator about 15 feet away. Looked like it should hold some decent fish, had water in it for a long time and has a goo...

Re: Freshwater Fishing Spots

Yup. With Jackson as low as it is bigger boats are out of luck pretty much leaving Talquin. If you've never been there before, watch your behind. There are more outboard foots laying on the bottom of that lake than any other I know of :D We put in to Lake Miccosukee a while back with a 20 foot boat,...
