Re: App National Forest pond
To my knowledge, none of the ponds except for possibly Trout Pond have ever been stocked. Most of the National Forest ponds are seasonal and dry up periodically, it's pretty rare for most of them to hold water for more than 5 years at most. Then the whole genetic pool dies when they dry up and the w...

Re: Thoughts on Alligator attacks...
Do you guys appreciate rednecks now ? When I was younger.... well there was not a problem with them.... :o I don't mind them. If you aren't stupid, or are a kid with stupid parents, you really have nothing to worry about from gators. And if you are stupid, well, that's natural selection at work. Th...

Re: Full Moon Fishing at Night in the Gulf
As I understand it, back in the day when it was legal, the preferred method of commercial fishing for seatrout was to troll big silver spoons on the flats at night. Are you saying it would be illegal to troll a big silver spoon on the flats at night now days? That sounds like it might work! It must...

As I understand it, back in the day when it was legal, the preferred method of commercial fishing for seatrout was to troll big silver spoons on the flats at night. I've always wanted to go out on a night with the right wind to slowly drift you in some good grassy 3-5ft of water and throw a Super Sp...

St Mark's NWR ponds. The ones off Surf Rd in Sopchoppy and the ones down by the lighthouse. Massive bream and Warmouth in both.

Re: Tarpon on a trout rod?
Tarpon on light tackle are a good time. I think the 4lb test line record for tarpon is around 50lbs.. It's possible to land a big one on a light spinning rig if all the stars align.

Re: aucilla river
I must have been smoking crack! I'm thinking of the Econfina with the houses.
But the Aucilla for sure has bream and bass if you put in at Nutall. And the upper Aucilla all the way to 90 is loaded with them but a real PITA to access.

Re: aucilla river
Plenty of bass and bream up there. I've seen some nice bass caught up around Nutall Rise. How far down they range depends on the weather and tides and all that affecting salinity. I know for sure there are bass at least as far as south of the boat ramp where all those houses along the river are.

Re: March 4th & 5th
That's a good one, it was way better a few years back when it was almost dried up! I used to walk around the edge buzzing a weightless zoom swimmin super fluke on the surface and you could catch 15 of them out of there in an hour or two. Caught a monster warmouth on said fluke out of there too. I th...

Re: Bass Fishing from kayak
All good suggestions so far. Piney Z can be good at times and terrible at others. The "other" St Marks Refuge in Panacea has some good ponds that are only open part of the year, you can reach some of them off Surf Road and the rest through the gate at Otter Lake when it's open. The Wakulla...

Some hellacious fish in there.. Just gotta catch the conditions right! A coworker showed me a picture of one caught out of there on a buzzbait that went 12lb 1 oz. Can be a real picky place to fish though.

Re: Crazy launching at Aucilla?
Aucilla is a funny place. I've seen a bass boat tear ass at 50mph all the way out the mouth and onto the flats at a dead low tide without touching a thing and I've seen someone idle from the boat ramp to the mouth on the same tide and still bump 3 rocks. Luck is a hell of a thing, but it don't last ...
Re: Wading
Wakulla Beach is usually worth a shot on the right tide. Caught some nice ones at Mashes Sands wading too.

Re: Apalahicola National Forest 10-24-15
ANF doesn't have a lot of ponds compared to other areas in the state but there are a few good ones. When the water gets low you could slay them, there were two off Springhill that I used to fish a few years ago in college that were dried up to being only a couple feet deep and half their normal size...
