Needing Home(s) for Tasty Pigs

Looking for good home(s) for tasty pigs. So here's the backstory... I live against 4,000 of uninhabited plantation land. Hogs have increasingly become an issue over the past few years. Raised not to waste anything I kill, I have just about killed MYSELF lately trying to process the pigs I've harvest...

Re: taxidermist?

Small shop and always a bit of wait time, but Mike Reinhart of R&R Taxidermy (Farms Road on east side of Tallahassee near Lloyd) does some darn good work.

He did this buck for me a few years back.

Two Predictions

Ok, so have two predictions...

1) Hit-N-Miss's photo on the BBF "Welcome Page" is soon to be replaced, and
2) The next pic will still be a Hit-N-Miss family photo

You read it here first! :-) :-D

Re: Storm Eta

Might should have added for those interested in following the varying tracking models, I highly recommend the "Tropical Tidbits" site. Here's a link to the site -- https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/ Dig around the site a bit and you can even run the individual models and click by s...

Re: Storm Eta

Latest cone from the National Hurricane Center shows center of Tropical Storm Eta coming in around Steinhatchee or Suwannee after midnight on Friday. True, Silverking, but with the caveat that the tracking models, which have actually been surprisingly tight AND accurate with all the earlier Lousisi...

ANYBODY Scalloped Out of Econfina This Summer?

Got an old Marine Corps buddy coming down from South Carolina this week, and going to do my best to put him on as many adventures as possible -- likely including a scalloping trip. Know folks have had fair luck out of St. Marks, but curious if anyone has had ANY luck out of Ecky? I'm not asking with...

Blue Spinner, being a fellow jarhead I've written several posts about / to Earl, but never met him. You don't mind having some company, next time you're going to visit him I'd enjoy tagging along if you don't mind / don't think he'd mind.

Re: Food Plots - What to plant?

Above shared, though personally at a point in my life I'm enjoying trying to "trophy" hunt ("trophy" as FL goes) NOT a horn snob. As the old saying goes, you can't eat horns... and I LOVE venison. TOTALLY get the goal of harvesting deer for the primary goal of food, and have done...

Re: Food Plots - What to plant?

:-D Here's my 2 cents. Most folks have a lot more money to throw at a plot than I do. So here is what I do. I never plant before the third weekend in September . I let the plot go fallow all year after season and mow it 2 weeks before planting. I do not spray or fertilize. I plant wheat, oats, crim...

Re: Food Plots - What to plant?

Here's a graphic put out for Alabama plantings that can give some ideas on various mixes and planting rates for each seed. Alabama Suggestions.jpg Want a good read / appreciation of food plots in general the PDF that I grabbed the planting options can be found by following this link. https://www.out...

Re: Food Plots - What to plant?

Few thoughts to add / emphasize those of others. Some are somewhat random, but lessons that I've learned at least as applies to my place. 1) If you're not going to bow hunt then I'd STRONGLY recommend holding your planting until close to season. Due to life being busy I've literally planted just 2 o...

I TRULY think this thread title might just be my favorite of ALL TIMES!  Just jealous I'm not the one who shared it, as it pretty accurately describes 75% or so of my personal interactions with the Bman. :smt005

Re: Covid at JR's

Most old people I know do have varying degrees of preexisting conditions. My 80 year old Father in law is at TMH this very moment recovering from a back surgery. I’m not sure I know an 80 year old that doesn’t have a preexisting condition of some kind. Think I made clear / that it's intuitively obv...
