Re: Covid at JR's

And Steve, hope you saw the NYC data... being old isn't a death sentence nearly as much as being old AND already sick is. The death rate is just so much more dramatic with the elderly as they, naturally, tend to suffer from other aging related diseases.

Pray your Mom is well, and stays well!

Re: Covid at JR's

Salty Gator and Steve, my Mom who I love DEARLY is still living, approaching her mid-80s, so I'm right there with y'all on the concern for a family member... but she also would be the first to say she would prefer her grandchildren not be robbed of normal childhood experiences (and saddled with debt...

Re: Covid at JR's

Two 17 year olds have died from "the Corvid" in Florida. I know that they're the exception, not the rule. A couple hundred thousand will die from "the Corvid" this year and most of them will be elderly, will die alone and will be sorely missed by their families. Doing what you c...

Re: Covid at JR's

I respect differing opinions, but as a science teacher, I'm chasing the facts. Glad you caveated your responses earlier with aiming to protect school kids' grandparents, because the "science" doesn't yet paint a picture of this exactly being the black plague for anyone otherwise healthy. ...

Re: Scalloping....

One of my brothers is blessed to get a steady stream of free stuff from Amazon due to his reviews being ranked highly (think they call it the Amazon vine program), so he throws stuff my way from time to time and one of the things he gave me was a full-face mask. Most of the full-face masks are desig...

Re: Recommendations - Spot lock trolling motor

We REALLY need to take a trip out together, Bman, so you can check out the Rhodan in a ction. Anchoring seriously proved as simple as hitting a single "A" button. Then while on anchor have the ability to make 5' directional jogs by hitting direction arrows if want to move ever so slightly....

Re: Memorial Day Trip - Making Ontiltttttt's Dreams Come Tru

I couldn't help but noticing your troller stabilizer support in one of the pics. I've been looking for something like that for my troller. Can you share the brand and model and if you would recommend it....thanks. Rhodes, this is the one that I'm using. Just got the new "spot lock" trolli...

Memorial Day Trip - Making Ontiltttttt's Dreams Come True

FINALLY put the boat in salt for the first time this year on Sunday (repowering boat, ramp closures, & trying to manage business during covid craziness to blame). Sent out an invite to Ontiltttttt to help celebrate his graduation from FSU med school... no small accomplishment! Bit choppy in the ...

Re: Tips for Cobia Fishing (New to Big Bend Area)

BBG is the guru of cobia fishing around here, and I've learned a lot from reading his posts. If BREAKING the rules ( ESPECIALLY 6, 7, & 8 ) and having to relearn them over and over makes someone a "guru," than maybe I'm a "guru?" :smt102  Complete joking aside, just thi...

Re: Tips for Cobia Fishing (New to Big Bend Area)

One more pin note, smaller ones will draw more hits from trout and reds... med to larger ones will help improve the odds of keeping other fish off them, and getting the attention of cobes, though you can expect some shark hits (especially smaller blacktips) as well. When using sabiki, really helps t...

Re: Tips for Cobia Fishing (New to Big Bend Area)

Mostly going to be re-iterating what others have said as they've given REALLY solid advice. CAN'T SAY STRONGLY enough how much I'd swap the shrimp for pins. Dang near EVERY fish in the sea will go after shrimp (including PINS!), and around deeper structure holding bait you're going to have macks cut...

Re: Gator Tags

Processed a dozen or so last season. Lots of tedious knife work but I find it fun. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200519/c4b311988d2d255c2fea1100841d78a0.jpg That's some REALLY nice looking work, Red Beard!  Very curious what you did with the skins next... tan and / or dye them,...

Re: Gator Tags

Did put in for tags... but second-guessing my sanity in doing so. Almost two years have passed since I harvested a couple from my pond... still think I'm recovering from the injuries (both physical and moral  ) suffered that year. And have to add that while it was a rather painful experience un...

Hope he doesn't mind me sharing this but pretry sure I befriended him on Facebook some time back, if I got the right fella' and think I did. Doesn't post often but his wife Martha (he affectionately calls Babe) shared a pic of him two days ago with a status about getting their mower repaired, so gue...
