Dog Island / Lanark

Nice work on those redfish! The spoon bite has been absolutely HOT this spring/early summer. I keep one tied on (either white or chartreuse, but have a soft spot for the pink) and ready to throw at the first site of a boil. There is something magical about that slow and consistent retrieve and then...

Re: Dog Island / Lanark

Those business owners need to get in the ear of the sheriff. I know how it works In counties like Franklin. I grew up in a tiny town in Alabama and my good buddies dad was a 2nd generation judge. Why the sheriff is listening to the Karen’s and not the business owners should be looked at. I agree bu...

Dog Island / Lanark

The Moorings has a private ramp for a $10 fee. Parking could be an issue. I did not see any boat ramp police. My brother-in-law may or may not have launched at a public boat ramp well before the roosters crow. Saturday had a lot of boat traffic, both fishing and boating. Dog Island was crowded but f...

Dog Island / Lanark

Fished over the Saturday and Sunday. Couldn’t have asked for better weather. Seas were calm. Water had a slight stain and temps ranged 74-79. Worked shallow areas with Aqua Dream pink/gold spoons and Spinnerbaits. Intent was to find the red fish. Fish seem to only bite on incoming tide both days. Sa...

Steve Stinson wrote:This is ripe for a lawsuit. How many of these boat ramps were built with Federal grant money? I would bet the terms of the grant required the ramp to be open to the PUBLIC.
You are correct.

Re: Franklin County Ramps

It will be a while before I spend a dime in Franklin county I definitely understand your point of view. Unfortunately, if the businesses had it their way, nothing would be closed. They will be impacted the most. The locals will just have to remember this come time for reelection. Sent from my iPhon...

Re: Franklin County Ramps

They should change the name to Fascist Co. Florida. It won't affect me this time, because I do own in the County and the lock down is over, but it sure ticks me off! Oh and the fine Sheriff blamed it on the governor's order, which is a lie. Can I pay you to put my boat in the water or can I lease a...

Re: Franklin County Ramps

If I’m reading the new order right it looks like they are open to residents or non-resident property owners. Not open to everyone. Here is the new ordinance- https://www.franklincountyflorida.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Ordinance-2020-09.pdf This ordinance was from a couple weeks ago. Sent from ...

Franklin County Ramps

Any word on if the County has opened the ramps back up to ALL of the general public yet?

I know they had a meeting at 9am this morning and opened the public beaches up on a limited basis starting Monday.

St Marks 4/25

Fished east of the lighthouse to the Aucilla River in various spots on the flats from daylight till noon. Morning was flat and the wind picked up to 15-25 out of the south in the afternoon. Fished mainly in 2-4’. Water was clear with some floating grass. Water temp was 73-75 degrees. Caught close to...

Re: 4/18 St. Marks

We were right behind y'all, we didn't make it till 930 and had to make a trip back to the lighthouse ramp since we had forgot one of the rainsuits in the truck. Looks like we should have concentrated on trout and not chased Spanish, y'all had a better box of fish than us for sure. Our true intent w...

4/18 St. Marks

Checked the weather all week and had our sights set on Saturday with the intent of fishing the incoming and outgoing tides. We woke up around 4:30am to see a giant blob of nasty. We checked all the weather sources and decided that the blob would ease it’s way to the south of us and continue East. So...

Re: Carrabelle closes boat ramps to all non resident

Some of the ramps in Franklin Country are grant funded with state and federal dollars. FWC’s - Florida Boating Improvement Program “ACCESS: recipients of FBIP funding must allow a reasonable public access to any part of the FBIP-funded facility that would normally be open to the public and must not ...
