Re: Navonics

This is incredibly helpful. My charts are showing almost 20 miles from the bird rack at St Marks to a 35 foot depth on a bearing of 160. Does that sound right? That's into federal waters, isn't it? Or am I mis-reading my charts?

Re: St. Marks report

Went Friday. Had to move around a bit, caught some little BSB and an undersize flounder out in 18-19 feet. Finally got into some scattered mackerel on the flats south southeast of the lighthouse. First mackerel of the season and saw my first lovebug, so it must be spring!

I'm out of town that day, but if you do it again I'm happy to take 'em out in my 21 foot Wahoo.

great yamaha mechanic saved the day

got to the ramp today, put the boat in the water, turned the key and ..... nothing. Jiggled the throttle, because occasionally the neutral safety switch sticks a little. Still nothing. Started taking the control unit apart until I thought better of it, then jiggled and whacked the throttle a few doz...

Re: 3-9 today's catch

Where'd you find 'em? We only found a few small trout, fishing the river and around the oyster beds. Saw a lot of fish on the fishfinder between Shell Island and the fort, but the resolution wasn't high enough to see them laughing at us.

Re: Where'd the fish go?

Very helpful! I guess I almost didn't believe my water temp gauge showing 74 degrees in February.
And very interesting on the way you had to cast to get them to hit only pink lures.
The trout wants what the trout wants . . .

Where'd the fish go?

I musta got spoiled when the trout were all stacked up in the river. Got out early Saturday morning from the Fort, very windy from the start. I fished a few creek mouths deep and up against the bank, fished the river edge of the channel, fished some favorite oyster bars with good water moving, worke...

I'm headed out there in late April and my son's going to drive down from Barksdale AFB. Guide is going to try to show us fly fishing for reds. Fish or no fish, we'll have some fun!

I had the same thought. I've read that this is a pretty common scam that good people have gotten burned on.

I'm interested. Plan to change my Bimini for a T-top on a 21 ft Wahoo. How come you're going the other way?

Re: St Mark's 12-1 A strange way to end the year

Went out Sunday with a couple of students who are super-fishermen. Clear water and dolphin on the flats, but just a lizardfish and one trout to be found out there. Moved around a bunch, finally found an oyster bar with some current ripping through it. Final score, 1 keeper redfish, 1 bluefish, assor...

Re: How to post photos... Video tutorial!

How about an update on posting photos to the forum? Photobucket wants me to pay a bunch for an upgrade to be able to post images to the web. Seems to be a way to do it in google drive or google doc, but I'm not sure. Posting fotos from phone would be great, or from the computer too.
thanks!

Re: towing

Put my Seatow membership to good use a few weeks ago, towed in from a mile off of St Marks. Very professional and helpful, even waited for me to put my trailer in & towed me right up to it, despite very low tide at the lighthouse ramp. Awesome experience (except for the getting stuck on the wate...
