Re: Rod Holder Repair and Replacement
What model boat do you have? Have you tried searching for the original replacement holders? If they're mounted on the console, most also have a drain cap on the bottom to allow water to drain to the bilge so they need to be a close fit. I'd try to find replacement holders of the same size and with ...

Rod Holder Repair and Replacement
The vertical rod holders on the center console of my bay boat are made out of cheap nylon and are about 9” deep. The rod holders are secured with self-tapping screws. After a few years of use, the vinyl pin that keeps the rod handles from going all the way through the rod holders has broken out of f...
Re: Flares
Just don't use the flares as some sort of gimmick for a gender reveal party in California.

Re: EPRIB or PLB?
I recently purchased a personal locator beacon, an ACR ResQLink View. See it here: https://www.acrartex.com/products/resqlink-view . I sleep better before going offshore in my 20'6" inch bay boat. I don't worry so much for myself, but for my friends who fish with me and assume that I will get t...

Re: Franklin County Ramps
On Saturday, I launched my boat in Wakulla county and took a 20 mile boat ride to one of my grouper spots south of Franklin County. My buddy and I quickly caught our limit of grouper and made it back to the ramp before lunch.

I like to target flounder from late August to early October when I understand they are heading offshore to spawn.

Franklin County Reconsidering the Closure of Boat Ramps?
It looks like the Franklin County Commission might reconsider the closure of its boat ramps at its Special Meeting scheduled for 9:00 a.m. April 30, 2020. See the meeting announcement here for more details: https://www.franklincountyflorida.com/2020/03/22/ordinance-temporarily-closing-all-beaches-an...

City of Port St. Joe Closes Frank Pate Park Ramp
Apparently, Port St. Joe closed the Frank Pate Park ramp for the next 2 weeks because of coronavirus concerns. Wasn’t planning to go there anyway.

Re: Finally--Learning to Catch Sheepshead
And cleaning them? Huge ribcage... I am by no means an expert at cleaning fish. Had to learn the hard way just to use a fillet glove. However, I learned to clean sheepshead by watching youtube. One of the best videos I've found showed that there is a seam or flap of skin right where the dorsal fin ...

Finally--Learning to Catch Sheepshead
I've got a list of fish that make me mad because I can't seem to find or catch them. Sheepshead had been on the list for nearly 3 years, but they finally came off the list on Saturday when we put eight of them in the cooler. The largest sheepshead was 21" long and the shortest was about 16 or 1...

Re: Sheepshead Spawning?
Maybe. After failing to catch any at the St. Marks reef, we caught two around some rocks offshore. One was 18” the other was 15.”John21:6 wrote:Does anyone know if the sheepshead are spawning yet?
We were using dropper rigs with live shrimp or half shrimp as bait.
