Re: GPS Navigation on an iPhone
So the one thing about using my phone and the Navionics app is the small screen size. Has anyone tried using a tablet with GPS? I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 inch. Good GPS, and would run the Navionics app; I think it could run with an LTE cell connection or just download the maps w...

Re: GPS Navigation on an iPhone
I have a dedicated Garmin GPS on my Wahoo, but I actually use the Navionics app on my Samsung cell phone preferentially for finding my fishing spots. The detail on the latest version is pretty amazing.

father son, reds & grouper
My son is visiting on leave from the Air Force, and on the coldest day of the year, the seas were calm and the fish were biting! Headed to rotary reef for a little sport. In the first five minutes we were each broken off twice on pretty light tackle, but then each of us caught one huge over-slot red...

Re: active military fishing license question
Thanks for the lead. I looked at that part of the FWC website and it says "Florida residents who can show authorized leave documentation stating that they are not stationed in Florida and home on leave for 30 days or less are exempt from general license requirements. The leave documentation mus...

active military fishing license question
My son is visiting from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, and I could've sworn there was a rule that active-duty military could get a Florida fishing license for the same fee as an in-state resident. We tried at BassPro, then they referred us to FWC headquarters on Meridian, who told him he had...

Pretty sure I saw a panther out at St Marks refuge over a year ago. Long tail and way larger than a bobcat. I know now that I should have taken a picture of his pawprint to provide proof /confirmation for FWC. There's a website that tracks suspected and confirmed sightings where you can report

Gags & cobia on rotary reef -- need to grow another inch
Took a day off work Friday and headed out of Mashes Sands at dead low tide. Found some spots around Rotary reef where crabbers were laying pots and lots of activity on the fishfinder. Caught a couple gag groupers, one 23 inches on an egg sinker bottom rig with a cutbait finger mullet. Tried a a buck...

Those are a work of art!
Break your heart when a fish gets away with one, but now you know you can always make more!

I paid by PayPal, and I completed and signed the entry form in pdf filler -- is that it or do I need to e-mail or upload the pdf somewhere?

Dang, my buddy caught the biggest lizardfish I've ever seen last weekend. Never thought I'd go looking for 'em.

Re: Suggestions for St Marks this weekend
If the east flats aren't working, the southern tip of the bar south of Shell Point last weekend was very active with mackerel tearing up schools of baitfish, and very eager to hit spoons, gulps, plugs or cut bait. But I'm betting that the slightly cooling temperatures and slightly clearing water wil...
