You can land a big cobia in a net... You just can't do it head first like normal. You have to get the net completely under the fish and come straight up. They will bend in half just enough to scoop them onboard. We've netted some big kings like this too. ...didn't say it was easy 6ft cobia!...probab...

We always drift and trail a long rope from the boat.
Hold on to the rope and it will pull you over the grass.
Least amount of effort that covers the most ground.
