Sounds like you have a good spot there. If it's in 60 fsw and has that kind of fish on it in the middle of the summer, there can't be too many folks that know about it. Let us know what happens when you return to it!

By no means am I an expert, but I've generally fished the seaward (south) side of the Shoals. I generally motor south until I'm in 6-8 feet of water, and then let the wind drift me up to 2-3 feet next to the bar. Crank up and drift again. I've caught a lot of interesting fish on the Shoals. Also mak...

I get a similar reaction when I fish. Although, I think I've isolated it to times when I've had to clean the catch. After a couple of days, I get numerous small bumps, under the skin, on my palms. They are somewhat painful. Feel like small pin pricks. Then, maybe 6 or 7 days later, my palms begin to...

Better late than never. I kept my boat in Shields' dry dock for about 2 years. I ended up moving my boat from Shield's to Panacea Harbor a year and a half ago. I wanted to start fishing further west and Panacea allowed that, while being just as close to my St. Marks offshore spots. Also, I didn't fe...

d-tox- what kind of reels do you have on yours? I have two and bought some cheap Zebco spincasts to put on but they are miserable little reels. I paid only $5 a piece for the reels so I guess you get what you pay for.

I wonder what's going on with the nurse sharks. I'd never caught one in all my years fishing the area but have got one each on my last two trips. The first one was probably 8 feet long and the second was probably 7 feet long. Crazy!

Offshore Panacea 8/2

Headed out about 6:45 Saturday morning for a fish/dive combo trip. The weather looked terrible when we got on the water. We ran to the flats to catch a livewell full of bait and to decide whether to brave the elements or not. After filling the livewell and noticing the line of storms getting closer ...

Panacea 7-19

Fished North and East of K Tower out to 55 feet of water. Seas weren't too bad in the morning but picked up in the afternoon. Caught 30-40 grouper, with only 4 keepers (2-20", 2-24"). All keepers were reds. Only caught a handful of gags all day and all were undersized. Most fish caught on ...

PinFish- I fished out of Panacea this past weekend. Did not have a problem with the grass. Caught several grouper and one small king. Also caught one 250-300 pound nurse shark. Good luck.

I jumped in at Lanark for a few minutes on the 4th and didn't see the first scallop. Sounds like they are few and far between and the murky water didn't help any. Just FYI, a lady here at work went to Keaton Beach and limited out in a couple of hours.

You could also launch at Alligator Point or depending on how much water your boat draws, the dirt ramp off of 98 east of St. Theresa.

Jay- If you can tell me, who's boat are you captaining? My family also has a place at Alligator Point and that's why I'd like to move it there. It's a 24 foot boat but we don't have a trailer for it and I don't want to keep it in the water. They've told me that the barn can't handle it. The say I ca...
