Re: Chases PB trout!

Takes two hands to hold two feet of trout! He will have to fish awhile to top that one. Great catch and better memory! Best of all the release!

Re: Storm Eta

After seeing forecast for 20 to 25 knot winds and 4 to six foot waves for the entire weekend, made other plans for the weekend. Ended up driving down to refuge to see some monarchs before they are gone. Seas were as smooth as a baby’s bottom as the sun set yesterday evening. https://uploads.tapatalk...

Late report for Sunday October 25

Got out late morning. Fished Oyster bar on the falling tide until we had to head the Key West deeper fir some flats drifting east of the lighthouse. Water was dark and got very little action even with live shrimp and pin fish. 1 14 inch trout on the drift. However the oyster bar did yield one 21 inc...

Re: Boat Ramps/Storage

The two year waiting list at Shields is real, but if you are patient the day will come. I got my 2020 Key West in dry storage there beginning of July after 2.5 years on the list. Used their boat ramp for years prior to that. My family always preferred launching there due to their clean restrooms and...

Re: St Marks weekend -- tough fishing

What species make up the trash trifecta? Lizard fish, hardheaded cats, and puffer fish? I don’t consider those that make good live or cut bait as true trash fish, so that takes pin fish, ladyfish and such off the list (they’re all off the table for me). Hound fish, needlefish and remora would be my ...

What were you using? Live bait or lures? What type and how rigged?

Sept 26 -Bars open for business

Got out just after sunup Saturday. Had great success with shrimp under popping corks on an oyster bar. Two of us must have caught 15 to 20 redfish 17 to 21 inches. Kept our two along with a 19 inch Trout and nice Spanish. My buddy also caught a big black drum. Got real warm after 11 AM. Tried to dri...

Re: Anyone going out tomorrow, 8/9?

No. Hickory mound is east of the Ecofina River. I measure twelve nautical miles from the center creek out from Hickory to Grey Mare. That’s one heck of a paddle.

Re: Tarpon Bait

Saw a tarpon roll just downriver from the fort on Saturday August 8. Saw between eight and a dozen roll on Sunday between marker 33 and 37. They were blowing up schools of mullet. No one was fishing them. I didn’t have a rod on board either day as we were heading to the scallop grounds. Sent from my...

Spotted an eel while scalloping

This past week while scalloping a pristine patch of sea grass east I spotted an eel poking its head up out of a hole in the bottom. We were in six feet of water on the rising tide so I know the mask was magnifying him. I guess he was about six minutes niches sticking out of the hole. He looked like ...
