Re: Scalloping....

FWC no longer conducting preseason scallop counts. I checked the site recently and it had been updated to read 2020 abundance survey but provided no data for 2020. I contacted FWC and was told they are switching the survey to after the season and report spawn related info instead of preseason count....

Any Scallop Reports?

Saw several posts from folks thinking about going last weekend. Would love to hear how it went.

Heard today that Hickory Mounds gates are closed and Hagan's cove south of Keaton is also closed.

Re: st marks scallops after the storm

Scallops were off at St Marks as of two weeks ago after the rain from a month ago worked it way into Apalachee bay and pushed the scallops deeper. Who knows what the storm did. It may have brought more salty water in with the surge but all the fresh water is draining back in. My understanding is the...

Also going out of Carrabelle first time Saturday. Any advice on which ramp and what parking to use would be great.

Re: Scalloping sat 20th.

It seems the fresh water from storms ten days ago pushed the scallops deep. We got a pint of meat but moved six times. Water was cloudy.

Re: Steinhatchie

Anywhere from Rock Garden to Grey Mare rock in 4 to 6 foot. Low tide is in the morning so best bet is to head out towards bird rack and then run east along stake line. We have had to move a number of times to find them. Brown algae mats are the best.

Re: Deer stand problem.

If you don't have a come along a ratcheting tie down strap might work if you put it around the trunk and some or all of the stand. I used one recently to stretch chain link.

Re: This Saturday.???

We got a quart and a cup of meat. Had to move 6 times until we found the spot. We had trouble seeing the bottom in 6 foot water so what we found was in 4 to 5. Water was cloudy not clear. We fished before and after scalloping and while we had some action, did not catch any keepers. I Sent from my iP...

Water clarity out by Grey Mare
Hoping to scallop this weekend. If anyone gets out that way it would be great to hear what the water clarity is after recent storms.

Re: Official Scallop report thread!

Went to St. Marks. Got about 6 gallons. It took about 3 hours and moved 4 times. Water was less clear than at Keaton. Scallops were smaller than at Keaton bug had decent meat.

Re: Official Scallop report thread!

We went to Keaton last weekend. Plan to spend at least an hour each way to get in and out at the ramp unless you get there at daybreak.
