Happy birthday! Always great to spend it on the water.

Re: Carrabelle offshore 4/24/21
So when it's that bouncy out there, do you anchor up or drift? Too bouncy for the trolling motor, or do you have one of those HelmMaster setups to use your outboards to stay on a spot?

Too rough for me
Tried to hit the snapper one last time yesterday. Launched before 6 at Carrabelle to beat the crowd (barely) and headed out with a forecast of 1-2 ft seas. Stopped inside Dog Island to catch some pinfish and thought "hmm, kinda breezy. . ." We headed out down-sea to about 80 ft. Stopped to...

Re: 2021 Scallops
Speaking of sharing scalloping grounds, I saw what I think was an 8-10 ft hammerhead slowly cruising the shallow flats near the party bar the other day. I don't think they recognize dive flags either..... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210712/261e5b89e08ecea536d42df07b97ba28.jpg Sent from my SM-...

Coulda been way worse
Made it about 20 yds out from the marina when I noticed my steering was really sluggish. I said something to my new fishing pal (his 1st time on the boat), and we both looked back to see smoke coming from just next to the engine. I had hung a stretch 30 back there and one of the treble hooks had fou...

Well, it wasn't as big as the ones that got away last week, but I'll take it!

Cobia Humbled us
Snuck out today and pushed through 2-3 foot waves far enough to know we weren't going to make it to snapper depth. We stopped on a public reef (I'm legally prohibited from saying which one) and picked up a few grunts, but were hoping for something bigger. We put out the chum bag and some live pinfis...

Re: Fishing thru floating grass
Thanks. Soft swimbait on a weedless worm hook seemed to work best getting thru the weeds, but I didn't get a bite on it

Fishing thru floating grass
Tried to fish the flats East of the lighthouse this morning, but a stiff breeze and tons of floating grass made it tough. Only caught a few shorts. What are y'all's strategies for fishing when clumps & lines of floating grass are everywhere?
