Re: Hickory Mounds?
Guess I spoke too soon about the road... but under "normal" conditions it's usually no problem getting out there with a typical sedan. I've been out there in small Civics, Taurus, Focus, etc.

Re: Hickory Mounds?
Hello everyone! This is my first post and I am using this honor to ask for help. I am a kayak angler relatively new to the area (inside 1 year), I have fished some of St. Marks, Piney Island area, Keaton, and a few other spots.... I am thinking about heading to Hickory Mounds tomorrow but I am afra...

Re: Lanark Boat Club Ramp Update, 1/6
Water visibility was about three feet deep, at times more, with a slightly tannic shade accented by suspended red clay silt and decomposed vegetable matter brought on by above average precipitation for the region and constant down-stream flushing action. Pronounced tidal lines in certain zones topp...

Re: Re:Update Seized Deck Latch
This project has turned out to be a lot worse than expected. The seized latch must be quenched and hardened stainless steel, I burnt up a 21v cordless Dewalt trying to drill it out. To make things worse this latch seized on one of the rod boxes with my favorite shimano Calcutta reel and St. Croix r...

Re: Offshore: What am I doing wrong?
In the Keys we "chum" hogfish by filling a bait bag with lobster carcasses, dropping them on the bottom for an hour or so and then go in with the guns to shoot them. I've never seen a hogfish in a normal chum slick even when we know they're there.

Off the top of my head, this sounds like a few miles SE of the 24 marker?rickc wrote:my best luck out of st marks is take a 165 heading off the sea bouy and run to 30 to 35 feet of water.

Re: Offshore: What am I doing wrong?
Water temps were very cold the last couple of days... low 50s. Not an expert but I'd guess that could explain a lot of your bad luck.

Re: Local Boat Ramp Status?
There's still a barricade across the road to the Fort ramp in St. Marks. The floating docks are back in position, although not secured to the pilings. There was one vehicle and trailer when I went by this am, but nothing this afternoon. Maybe that was a boat assessing repairs? Seems like the U-shac...

Nope. Like i said, these were already in place in the Obama TPP deal. Trump canceled that deal, mo...

Re: New North American Trade Agreement
Alright, my mistake for attempting to bring some reason to the table. When you're that misinformed, there's no explaining to you just how completely wrong you are. If you think Obama's policies were poor for the economy (data shows it was the strongest economic growth since WWII and completely rever...

Re: New North American Trade Agreement
Canada should have been embarrassed by the last trade agreement. The US is seeking and winning better deals, which helps our economy and takes away unfair advantages for other governments. I suspect that China will be dropping their fight against fair trade soon as well. Is this is a joke? The new ...

Re: Dumb Question about Sabiki Rigs
Does anybody else keep getting that Sabiki rig looking thing with the red flourocarbon on their FB? It comes up a sponsored post, Wish App, and it won't link to the site only the App and I can't download it because my phone's on it's way out. But anyway that thing looks AWESOME lol! Looks like some...

Re: 4/7 - Rotary Reef/Ochlockonee Shoal/Marker 24
Thanks for all the great replies so far! I'm fishing out of a 19' Mako. Thankfully the 5-6ft rollers were pretty rogue, amongst 2-3ft and came and went quickly. We were out by Marker 24 when they kicked up and we immediately headed west towards land before things settled down to 1-2ft after about 15...

4/7 - Rotary Reef/Ochlockonee Shoal/Marker 24
Launched from Mashes Sands yesterday morning around 7am. Seas and winds were higher than forecasted but not as bad as last week so we started out slow heading east through some 3-4 footers. This was our first time getting "offshore" so we set out a few lines and slow trolled over to Rotary...
