Re: 2012 Snake ID

Copperheads are pretty rare this far south. In past 35-40 years I've seen maybe half a dozen. all but one of these in Baker county... Never seen but one coral snake in the wild and it was down outside Deland.

Re: Tips for Sat Tourney

I dodged those same storms myself today outta St Marks but one of them got me good coming in ! Downpour from the lighthouse to shell island.. Fishing was great though. Caught two limits before 12 like we did last Sat. Very nice trout. Plus four reds to 26". Also didn't see another boat on the f...

Re: River O' Reds

Dang funny how that works.... Nephew and I went out of Enconfina this morning about 8:30 on that same low tide and gusty winds. Ran several miles to one honey hole in about 6' water and didn't do much.. Wondered if it was a jumpy trout hole....Moved two more times and and got two limits of very nice...

Re: St Marks to Aucilla Stake Line

On a minus tide Peters rock is pretty close to the surface. I fished it this past Tuesday morning and about all we caught was short bsb's and lizards ! This was at low tide. Actually there are a lot of rocks around there and right now, spotty bottom.

Tiger Sharks

Friend of mine from north Ga brought his grandson down and we fished Enconfina Monday and St Marks yesterday. Both good days and we caught trout up to 25". In fact, couple of days fishing as good as I've ever had down there. Yesterday morning about 11:00 the gales had calmed down and we were wa...

We caught several of the biggest remoras I ever saw out of Enconfina yesterday. Limited on trout with very few shorts.

Re: Site Update, Wants and Needs?

Need a contact address for you BMan. I used to send Tom a check periodically to help some with the site. I never got around to using paypal or other payment vehicles. If you will post that I'll get a remittance out immediately. I'm sure others will too.

Re: Muskie Jitterbug

I used to have a couple of black ones.Biggest channel cat I ever caught hit one early one morning. Must have weighed 12-15 lbs. Caught a lot of bass on them too.. I bet a big sail cat would jump all over one..

Kudos to SGO

Couple of weeks back my grandson and I were shooting our rifles. He had his 7-08 and me my 280 Rem. After shooting the 280 a few times and getting comfortable with it he decided he would like one. I told him I'd start looking for one and then he asked me why I didn't just let him have mine and find ...

Re: 280 Ackley Improved

The Nosler reloading manual shows 2994 f.p.s. with 60.5 grains of Hodgdon 4831 short cut behind a 150 gr partition or solid base. This is good powder efficiency. No load shown for IMR 4831. Lists 3107 f.p.s. with 63 grains of IMR 7828 which is a good clean burning slow powder. I've used it in a 7 ma...

Re: 280 Ackley Improved

The Ackley has a 40 degree shoulder angle which increases powder capacity. It will shoot 140-150 grain bullets at approx 7mm Mag velocities with 30% less powder and the equivalent recoil. I've been shooting a 280 Remington and been well satisfied. Just wanted a little more velocity as I do occasiona...
