Re: Flats Are On Fire
We didn't exactly find them on fire, but we did bring home supper on Friday 18th. Tried the cove and creeks off the east flats and iced down 3 nice trout. One was over 24". Fished with top water, jigs under corks and threw the spoon. We even bought a few live shrimp as an insurance plan. Caught...

Thanks for the post Dawg. It's hard to post when you don't fill the boat, but it sure is appreciated when someone takes the time to let us know were they aren't. I was going to try somewhere this week and now I know to either go south or west. You'll get em next time.

Wow, 16 redfish is a big clue that fishing is heating up. Thanks for the report and keep em coming.

St. Marks 9-19-20
Some days you just have to go, and Saturday was one of those days. 2 of my favorite fishing buddies (son-in-law and grandson) came in town and wanted to try the flats, so we loaded the skiff and took off. The parking lot at the light house wasn't too full, so that was good. The wind wasn't blowing t...

Re: Have the seas calmed down?
Spent a few hours (10:00 - 2:00) today trying our luck in and around the east flats and Big Cove. The wind was a lot stronger than the guestimates from McCall and NOAA. Even in the back of Big Cove had trouble casting and using the trolling motor. Did manage to pick up a couple nice trout for supper...

Aucilla River 2/12/20
Not every fishing trip is about catching fish; I keep telling myself. Wednesday worked out to be the best day to fish, you know the saying the best time to go is when you can. I don't know about y'all, but I married way above my pay grade. My little wife said, "let's go fishing as our Valentine...

East of the Light House
Some days seem 'meant to be'. Decided to celebrate like an old vet and went fishing. Talked my bride into joining me and our nephew for a little salt water fun. Was expecting to find the lighthouse boat ramp full, but not the case. Some trucks in the lot, but we didn't have any wait to launch and ge...

Re: St Marks 6_4
Thanks for the post and for taking that kid fishing. That's true conservation effort. We went out from the light house at first light yesterday (6-5-18) and did not find the red fish. Caught a couple trout (only landed one) and a lady fish liked the top water lure, but no cats. The water was salt te...

Aucilla; you never know
Went Tuesday 1-23-2018 to the Aucilla River to try some bunched-up trout fishing. Out going tide, but plenty of water to launch and fish. There was one other motor boat and a plastic craft (kayak) also fishing. From the 3 boats and 4 fishermen not 1 bite. No reds, no whites, no blues; nothing. We th...

St Marks Wed. 9/27
Got a chance to go fishing with my little bride on Wednesday and now I know why there have not been many posts. We fished the out-going tide, water temp was 82-85 range, fairly light winds and the water was mostly clear at 5-6 feet out from the light house and a little too dingy in the bays and East...

Re: Thanks Big Bend Marine
They are great folks and that's where I got the rig originally. So, I guess we took the trailer home to rest, but it sure had a great life.

Thanks Big Bend Marine
Sometimes stuff happens. On our way to the flats on Friday and the 16 years old trailer is coming apart and all the seams, stringers and springs. I'm down at Panacea and Mike's Marine doesn't have a trailer to fit our Carolina Skiff, so we head off to Perry. A call to Dale, and the trailer we need i...

Good friend and good fishing
Took an old (long time) friend from Texas out to catch a trout. Put in at the Light house and went east to drift while the tide came in. First cast and keeper trout; his first speckled sea trout, game on. We caught a few shorts before another keeper and started our drift into the bay. He caught cats...
