Re: Tarpon Fishing
Jeff, while I have very limited experience with Tarpon, if I was down in FLA in the area you're considering, the choice would be a no-brainer for me. Captain Scott Burgess takes out spin and fly casters and is top notch. You'll learn a ton and if there are fish around, he's dialed in on where they a...

Re: Ear, nose and throat doc for tube surgery?
My reco is to find a good local doc if at all possible. Makes follow up visits much easier and docs are like the rest of us. If you buy a fly reel from Amazon and then take it to you local fly shop to have them put the backing on, they'll do it but they'll also naturally be less inclined to care for...

Re: Who's going fishing this Saturday?
Since RtD was mentioned, I heard that guys fishing in Panama City won the Panacea Rock the Dock tournament. I'm not a tourney guy but does that make sense? Could a fella pay to compete and then fish Louisiana and submit a large Red?

Re: Need to buy crabs
I'm back in Montana for the summer but was talking with a buddy down there yesterday and he said either Rocky's or Crum's was advertising Fiddler Crabs. Not sure which one.

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
I recently upgraded from the Humminbird 997c-si with Navionics Platinum Chip to a Simrad with FMT. (Retirement present from wife). In my opinion there is no comparison. Take a look at the video linked below and fast forward through to get to the area east of St. Marks. The FMT guy does a good job co...

Re: St Marks 10/23
Terrier, that's a really good day! I was on a flight back to Montana while you were out enjoying yourself. I think you ran into a pal of mine down at St. Marks. He's a good dude and an excellent flyfisherman, just doesn't do much flyfishing in FLA. As for a minor report, like Terrier, I have enjoyed...

Re: St Marks 12/31
Yeah, Beeready, thanks for the report. I fished some good spots thoroughly on the 31st and didn't hook a fish. Had some action way up a creek on Saturday. Constantly changing winter conditions sure do add to the challenge of catching fish in Apalachee Bay. Dense fog Friday and Saturday, Gale force w...

Re: St Marks 10/23
Friday I went out and hit some likely bars and didn't sniff a fish nor see any bait in 4 different spots. This included some thorough wade fishing. Saturday I went way up a creek and saw some bait moving around and got 3 Reds and a short Trout. Didn't see a ton of fish around. Water was a bit off co...

Re: Sign the Pledge
From Webster's Dictionary, first definition... DEMOCRACY. A government by the people, especially: rule of the majority. REPUBLIC. A government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president. BTW, I have no party affiliation, due to an allergic reaction t...

Re: October Fly Tie Night!!
Also, today I'm fishing a small creek today on a ranch that a friend of mine owns. The creek feeds the Beaverhead River and has some surprisingly nice Browns in it (18" is not unusual). Gonna be 72F here and will likely use small wooly buggers and attractor dries to try to entice a big guy to e...

Re: October Fly Tie Night!!
Jay, if it's in the same timeline in November, I'll be there. Coming down 11/2-11/17. PS - post a link if you and Evan do a monthly report. Enjoy listening to the discussion. Also planning on doing the Steelhead Fly for Clouser trade with Gary Droze while I'm down there if he hasn't already complete...
