Does anyone know the water temperture at St. Marks somewhere near the Wakulla River entrance to the bay?
Much appreciated.

Re: Rod/Reel help
Shimano Stradic 2500 w/ a $39 Ugly Stick graphite Lite. Personally, I prefer the Stradic 2500FH but they no longer make them. You'll have to settle for a 2500 FI, which is the newest model. Should be able to get both for under $200. The FH & FI perform equally well, I just like the drag action o...
Re: SHARK!!!!
Pretty wild report, hurling the leg & all. That happening in the Bahamas probably won't keep me off the oyster bars, though.
It will, however, make me think twice before jumping into the water to pull a boat.

Re: St Marks
It's hard to depart the area to seek trout when reds are biting.

Re: Tidal Tips appreciated
Thanks for the tips. Barhopr, I am usually fishing a channel about 3 to 5 feet deep that runs between an oyster bar and a stand of marsh grass. There ae some "coffins" in this channel that I have lost jigs and sometimes shrimp when I have attached a bullet weight or a split shot. Fishing t...

Tidal Tips appreciated
I would appreciate any advice on how to keep my bait down or at least slow it down whenever the tidal current starts ripping. I fish with live bait (shrimp, pinfish or pogeys) and when the tide starts ripping, my bait ends up skiing on top of the water. I have tried bullet weights and even split sho...

Re: St. Marks great day
I've been losing fish to sharks @ St. Marks for about 3 or 4 years now. I figure that it's part of the deal. Most of the time they are reds although I have lost a couple of gator trout to the gray suits. It has always been in shallow water, close to oyster bars & I was wading.

Good job on the reds & thanks for the info about menhaden in the canal. We haven't been able to find many this year.

Ethanol additive?
I have heard so much about how ethanol is keeping some marinas in business. I rarely see stations that state "Ethanol Free" so I am wondering, Is there a decent additive for dealing with the ill effects of ethanol in an outboard motor?

Oil booms
I haven't been to St. Marks in a couple of weeks. How far do the booms stretch out from the shore at the lighthouse? Have they put up any more?

Re: St. Marks 7/3 7/4
We got tired of departing Dothan @ dark:30 so we started leaving the afternoon or evening before the day we want to fish. When we arrive @ St. Marks, we go ahead & launch the boat so that we can get on the water as early as possible the next a.m. We stay at the Shell Island Fish Camp and fish fo...

Re: St. Marks 7/3 7/4
I've heard of Old Dog. Isn't he the trout slayer with the counter on the front of his boat? If so, he may be out of my league.
Thanks.
Thanks.

St. Marks 7/3 7/4
I've been an avid reader of this forum but this is my 1st post. My partner, Bartman, and I decided to see if we could redeem ourselves for our poor catching performance in June. Our live bait selection was difficult to come by both days, but after some work we would have a respectable selection of p...
