Re: Duck hunting with dogs and gators

Yup that's the same training that I was told that I ought to look into when I got my lab. I'd rather someone else do the training though as I neither have snakes, an E-Collar, or the training on how to use an E-Collar. I don't wish to buy one just for this excercise so I figgered I'd go the route of...

Hmmmmm looks like I'll be getting me a GINORMOUS GA sticker if it increases the odds of catching fish that much.

Re: Duck hunting with dogs and gators

Interesting. On the snake note...is there someone nearby who does snake avoidance training with dogs? I've got two and I really don't want them to be interested in snakes, good or bad. Where the house is, there's a good number of ponds so it sure won't surprise me to see moccassins and definitely wi...

Re: It's gator season!

Well we got our first gator tags this past gator season and made gator brats out of about 5lbs of the meat, figuring that if we didn't like it we'd only have to choke down 7lbs or so. :-D Here's a couple of things that we did with the gator meat: For dinner one night we had us some gator kabobs (min...

Re: Piggie down: night hunting

I don't do much big game hunting at all...my family in OR are big into deer and occassionally elk but the rule in our family has always been you kill it, you get to clean it and haul it out. Partly because of that I've never really gotten into "big game" hunting. I did kill my first pig la...

Duck hunting with dogs and gators

Just curious how many folk here use a retriever when duck hunting? What do the water temperatures typically get to in the winter on the lakes and how deep are the lakes? I do a lot of my hunting in central florida right now and I can't think of a time when I didn't take my dog with me, but I don't h...

Re: Tagging redfish?

Silver King....lots of folk here in jacksonville use the CCA out of Lousiana for their tags. I know at the Full of Bull Redfish Tournament is where I got the application to participate in the tagging program and it was through LA. I'll check out that link though...thanks

Re: Tagging redfish?

http://www.ccalouisiana.com/cca11/fish-tagging-program they provide you with the tags and info cards, tool for inserting the tag (looks just like a venting tool), instructions, and when you need more, they mail you more. At the end of the year I've gotten reports of how many fish I've tagged and how...
