Re: Feedback for legitimate recommendation to FWC (reef fish)

I fear that if you limit a person to one gag or one red snapper, more small ones will be released to die or eaten by sharks and porpoise as people hold out for a big one.

What Does a Good Red Grouper/Red Snapper Hole Look Like?

Sonar images don’t give me a good understanding of what the bottom looks like or what makes a spot a good grouper or snapper hole. My attempt at a solution to this problem has been to lower an underwater action camera, a cheap one, to take some videos. Once you decide to lower a camera, the question...

Good Thing I Brought that Extra Fish Cooler

When we got back to the boat ramp late Tuesday afternoon, July 18, the boat was heavy with our limit of red snapper and red grouper. For much of the day, we didn’t expect it to end that way. We didn’t launch until 9:00 am because some dummy forgot to call ahead to have the boat removed from storage ...

Re: Triple tail heating up

Good report.

I like to use medium headless fresh never frozen shrimp from the seafood market when I fish for tripletail.

Sometimes YOU Need a Bigger Cooler

On Monday morning, we noticed the full moon in the sky as we headed to the Carrabelle boat ramp at 5 am. I was half concerned. About half the experts say that a full moon means that fishing will be great and the other half say, terrible. It started off terrible. We caught four pinfish in about 40 ca...

No Venting Tool Required: A Fishing Report

The current fishing regulations require us fishermen to carry some sort of venting tool or descending device when fishing for reef fish, like grouper and red snapper. Yesterday, however, we didn’t have much use for a venting tool. The sharks vented fish for us, time and time again. https://uploads.t...
