Sir reel, My wife and I were out of the lighthouse the day before you went. We did not much different than you-mostly sharks and only one trout(keeper). that was the only trout bite we got all day, and he was in 41/2 ft. water. We went out as far as 18ft. and got 1 big black bass,1 big grunt,my wife...

Rx,
Sorry to hear about your motor problem, hope it was just too much grass like you suspected. Sounds like you all had fun when you got to fish. We haven't been to the flats in about 3 weeks, so we are way overdue. Was the water still stained bad like it's been being?

rock garden

Rx, Could you tell me where the rock garden is? I keep reading references to that area and although I have fished St. Marks a good bit, I still don't know where you are talking about. Is it east or west of the lighthouse? And thanks for the report. It sounds kinda slow out there now. I hate all that...

Keaton

Hey, Just wanted to report the water at Keaton is ROUGH!! We went out yesterday for about 2 1/2 hours and it was all we could do to stand on the deck. Forecast was for 1-2 ft. seas with light chop in protected waters. WRONG! It was really windy, could not move around as much as I'd like to have. Igot...

Ken K, There is a very good parking area at Keaton, just pull up past the ramp and find a spot where the other trailers are. They have started making you sign in at the ramp and file a float plan, in addition to the $5.00 ramp fee. But it is a nice ramp, just be careful if you launch on low tide bec...

Wetjet, Did you fish Econfina straight out or to the left over toward the bird racks? I keep hearing most of the fish are over toward the racks in deeper water. We have had lousy luck over there this year, too. That stained water just drives me crazy-can't see the bottom and tell what kind of struct...

CS, We went to Keaton on Friday. We tried over around Piney Pt. and only got 2 short trout and 1 short bass. We got over there about 9am, maybe too late to fish that spot. The bite just wasn't there. Left there and went over toward Adans Beach, found some water 5' deep and not too grassy on top.Dad a...

dbplug, Welcome to the club. We fished at the lighthouse several times last year but have not made it there this year.I have read some good reports coming from over there, the flats have some good grass and spotty bottom(usually good fishing areas). We have caught some really big sharks there, too. ...

CS MARINE, How deep did you fish on most of your last trip? We are going to keaton on friday and wondered if you could give us some pointers. Have the fish really gone out deeper now? Some of the reports say 4-5 ft. and others say 6-9 ft. That just seems like a wide range to cover. I guess they are ...

Econfina

Deernfish, I have fished Econfina twice this season and had pretty hard luck there. The last time I was there was a week ago. I fished over toward Aucilla River(west of Econfina) and then moved over just east of Econfina in 6-7 ft. of water. All we got were 1 keeper trout, several shorts, and 3 big ...
