Re: Budget Rod/reel options

Phleuger President is a good reel, I've fished one for several years and had little trouble with it. I wash mine down good after a day on the water, let it dry and spray it down with reel magic before using it again. It still looks new.

Happy New Year, Pa. Sorry Babe has been sick, hope she's better soon. Go out and fish your pond when you can, maybe you can catch dinner.

Re: Lake Jackson 12-28

Bass love frogs! I work at a state park here in Ga. that has a lake. When it warmed up, the tree frogs came out in force. We find them everywhere now. Guys that bass fish use-you guessed it-frog lures!

Re: Lake Jackson 12-28

 Nice going, finding what they want can be a challenge sometimes. I thought they closed those lakes to fishing during duck season.

Good-looking meal there! I need to get down there and fish for some of the white trout, they can be fun to catch.

Re: Boating accident

That's really terrible to hear. It doesn't take much to flip a 12 ft. boat, esp. in the wind we have had lately.

I'm all for the Feb. closure, sorry that it didn't pass for our region. Those big mama trout need to get ready for spawning then.

Re: Crum's Mini Mall - Panacea, For Sale?

Crum's is a great place to stop in and browse, I've bought a lot of tackle there. I hope somebody good will buy it and keep it open.

Re: Creating space for fishfinder

I had a similar problem when I installed my Garmin a few years back. Ended up building a square wooden frame with holes drilled for the wiring and mounted the gps on top of the "box". The bottom end mounted to the console. Spray painted the whole thing. Not fancy but it has worked for me a...

How about that. I knew they were getting ready to approve something. 15-19'' slot sounds reasonable.

Re: Thursday Morning 12-12

Days like this make me think of Dad, he liked to fish in this kind of weather. It was cold and wet but we usually caught some fish. Now that I'm older, I don't see how we stood it!

  Those are some great-looking fish! We did good last Thursday at Aucilla tipping our jigs with frozen shrimp and working it close to bottom. They really like the shrimp, wouldn't touch the rig without it.
