Re: First time, need some advice
I was thinking about launching at the St. Marks Fort Saturday or Sunday afternoon if the weather and waves are right but I don't know about the tides there. Looks like better weather for Saturday, Sunday might be a little choppy. I'll be putting in at the Lighthouse ramp around 9AM. Tomorrow TIDES ...

Re: First time, need some advice
I agree with the red bearded one! Never seen a tide so low that you couldn't launch at the Fort. I like Shields, but sometimes it gets backed up with people trying to load stuff in their boat right in front of the store.

Re: Econfina River
For some reason I have been very fortunate in NOT finding the rocks at Econfina, I started going there in 2018 with a bass tracker style 17' boat and now in my Mako Pro Skiff 17'. I took it pretty slow around the mouth once I realized that I wasn't seeing channel makers, but rock markers. I've been ...

Re: Questions about cast netting mullet in the fall
This might be throwing gas on a fire, but I think spring fed rivers (Wakulla and Wacissa) should be paddle or trolling motor only. That would stop some of the problem, but every time I go to Big Blue I pick up several beer bottles and haul them to the trash. I don't even like going there on the week...

Re: Dumb question time (Tucker Lake)
I've thought about kayaking up the creek into the lake, but I've heard it can be very buggy this time of year.

I think this is the ice story Billy is mentioning. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=44638&p=336539&hili ... al#p336539
Ever since I read that story I make sure there is a good pair of pliers with cutters on the boat. I hope I never has to use them!

All the pictures I find of tiny flounder have a distinct tail and fins. This one looks different. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fsecorlab%2Fstatus%2F1001146668333625344&psig=AOvVaw33HIGWAwjGDJOp8Iv-sr7h&ust=1624721815888000&source=images&cd=vfe&am...

Two apps that have helped me learn the area are https://www.navionics.com/usa/ and https://www.fishangler.com/. You can look at the charts on Navionics and see all the bars and rocks to help plan your course. Fishangler has tides, wind, sun, moon, weather and fishing forecast. Low tide Saturday is a...

Re: Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric
I upgraded the steering from cable to hydraulic and there's no play in the engine. It gets up on plane easily with the 115 Yamaha and I don't have any problems with porpoising. I have never heard that trim tabs would help with low speed steering, but I guess it helps steady the rear of the boat and...
