? about "smokehouse ledge"
I just had a quick question about this thing I hear about called the smokehouse ledge. NOT LOOKING FOR #'s, just info. Multiple maps I have looked at detail areas they call the smokehouse ledge. Most of the maps show it east of the WR1 green can out of Alligator Point. I also saw a published # off a...

Took my wife and pop in law back out to finish their trip. We initially tried to go swimming at the shoals, but it was a bit too rough. It calmed some over the next hour as we checked some old loran number areas with no success. Enjoying the ride, we eased SW to check a ledge a friend had found. Fre...

10-18-10 Lanark
After such a great trip two days ago, I really wanted to get back out. My in laws were visiting and I wanted to get my pop in law and wife out to bend some poles even if it was just grunts and seabass. We put in at Lanark around 9 and things looked good with light winds. After getting halfway to our...

Got out with a good friend hoping to do a little diving and work out his new Kenner. Its only 17 ft., but handled great in the morning slop coming out of the east. Crawled our way out to 35-40 ft and were thrilled with great vis. Not many big grouper at the first stop, but pilled in the grunts ON SA...

Re: Where are the grouper????
Tom is exactly right. We used to do most of our freediving south of Cedar Keys and shot most of our big gags (up to 35" plus) from 30 ft all the way in to 4ft. Thats right.....25" gags in 3-4ft that would tear your props off. The big gags are inshore year round, they just don't feed well a...

late 9-5-10...Lanark
Finally got a chance to get on the water with the wife. New babies seem to limit time somehow. :-) Who knew. Anyhow....Launched from Lanark around 1pm, just in time for the seabreeze to start harassing us past the East End. Despite the annoying chop, we made it out to 30-40ft without too much troubl...

Tom, I don't know if you guys would be interested, but I would be happy to give a talk at one of your NFGFC meetings re: fishing and diving medicine. (Decompression sickness, shallow water blackout, dehydration, bumps/cuts, emergency kits, ciguatera, seasickness etc.) I'm currently finishing up a ge...
