Re: boat loading question
You can still mount a keel roller to keep boat off of cross bar. Just use a mount that attaches to the side of the cross bar and has an offset away from cross bar. The top of the roller can then be adjusted to just above the cross bar. Just remember that the boat when loaded should have its weight r...

Re: Casting Platform
Don't have on to sell but if you are going to buy, might want to call Metal Fabrication of Tallahassee (205-2300 off Weems Rd) . They built my custom bow platform and much cheaper than buying off the shelf.

Re: Panthers in the Big Bend?
Saw one cross dirt road 126 in apalach forest about ten years ago. It wasn't 10 yards from me, stopped looked at me and continued on. Not a doubt in my mind then or now that it was a full grown panther.

Re: Boat Trailer
Loadmaster does make a good trailer. Buddy bought one couple of years ago. Saved a couple of bucks by buying from one of their dealers but went down to Tampa & picked it up from factory.

Re: 1st trip of the year St Marks 1/29/11sat
Funny you asked about the silver trout. I knew they existed but I've never actually caught one around here until today. I caught the first one as I drifted by two nearby boats. Couldn't remember if there was regs on them or not. After discussion with all boats within earshot, we all decided that the...

Good to meet you Hit-n-miss. Sorry about the broken belt. Glad my first mate could be of help. Also, good to meet Scoop Sea. We ended the day with a baker's dozen of a mixed bag of reds, spotted and silver trout. Only one keeper (trout) out of the bunch.

Saturday for sure, Sunday maybe. St. Marks & Wakulla. If I see your Kenner I'll just troll behind you & pick up the ones you miss. How'd that be? Just kidding (not really).

Have same grab bar mounting setup as you do. I went with 3' stainless whip mounted as low as possible on vertical part of rail. Only sticks above rail by a few inches. Works fine for coastal fishing. Never had any range issues. Left extra cable inside console. Have piece of PVC that rides in horizon...

Re: Optima Batteries??
I use (2) for 24v trolling motor going on 3yrs now and no problems. They keep going and going. They are worth the price but make sure you also spend the money for a good charger. Cheap chargers can ruin expensive batteries.
