Re: What is it?

My browser would not let me view the images but it sounds like a transducer plate. I think this is what it is called anyway. I have seen them in Cabelas and you are supposed to mount this to your transom and then mount your transducers to this plate.

Re: What are we doing wrong?

I am certainly no expert but here is what I would do. First, back off to jigheads in the 1/16th or 1/8th range, redhead preferfred. Make sure you are over a grassy bottom in water about 3-5 feet. Fish this under a cajun thunder with a leader about 2-3 feet long. The bite is always better when the ti...

Re: Chartplotter Recommendations?

I have used the Navionics maps on a Lowrance and like them a lot. The Lowrance unit I own has been OK but the Navionics chip is very detailed and seems to be very accurate. I have also used the Garmin 441 on a friends boat and I like the unit for it's simplicity and ease of use but the preloaded map...

Re: East River

Thanks for the advice. I've got a 21 foot Kenner so I would have to move around pretty slow. I have a Navionics chip for the area that shows a few holes and the bars but I don't know how accurate it is. It has proven to be fairly accurate on the flats but as you can imagine it better be almost dead ...

East River

Looking for a little advice. I have been fishing St Marks for a few years now and feel comfortable around the East and West flats but I want to venture into the East river area in search of reds. Could anyone offer any advice for this area? Do I need to worry about getting stranded up a creek when t...

St Marks this weekend

Anybody fishing St Marks this weekend? I am taking my son down for a little fishing out of Shell Island. The weather looks good for Friday but thunderstorm warnings for Saturday.

Re: St. Marks area?

I agree with Woopty about going around the birdrack and following the stakelines before you cut north. Some people will cut across 2 buoys short of the birdrack and run wide open. In my limited experience, this is OK at high tide, but why take the chance to save 5 minutes.

St Marks 4/6 and 4/7

Fished St Marks 4/6 and 4/7 with the wife and kid. On 4/6 found water temps in the high 70s on the East flats and probably caught 50 or 60 shorts and ended up with only 2 keeper trout and one nice spanish. On Saturday, after a very cool ride out, found water temps to be 69 degrees on the west flats....

Re: iPas/GPS ?

I have carried my Ipad out on clear days and the Navionics app works great. The biggest problem is being able to see the screen in the sun. I would have to shield myself and the ipad with a towel to be able to view it. In the end, not worth the hassle.

Rhettley
Can't figure out the PM form. Motor is either 72 or 80 lbs and is 3 or 7 years old. Works great, just got tired of how far it hangs off the deck when it is laid down.
