Re: Scallop cleaning at Keaton
There's folks right by the cleaning station at the marina that will do it. Not sure what they charge. There's also a sign up by the gas station as you near the public landing indicating someone over by Dekle will do it for you.

Re: Recommendations
Well, I've never seen the scalloping better than it has been this year at Keaton. But I've never seen more boats either. I think the number of boats is down a bit from it's peak, but at peak times I'd still expect delays at the landing. If you get in early and get out at a non-peak time I think you ...

Re: Keaton Beach 5/13-17 2015
Saw a few scallops, but I think there were more a month ago? And the trout may have been hammered in the rivers, but there's not enough creeks in that area to hold all the trout on the grass flats. It may have had an impact, but I don't think that's it. And it doesn't explain the lack of the other f...

Keaton Beach 5/13-17 2015
Fished out of Keaton Beach with two friends from 5/13 to 5/17 with little to show for it. We fished from Grassy Island to north of Spring Warrior, covering water from crystal clear to dirty, nothing seamed to produce consistently. On our good day we produced 9 keeper sea trout. Most days we were run...

Re: steinhatchee River
I'll have to give the trolling a try some time. I'm afraid the number of boats may have made it quite difficult on Saturday. I was surprised to find a number of fish fairly high in the water column. I guess I was expecting them to be hunkered down deep.

Re: steinhatchee River
We weren't able to make it down Friday due to an electronics issue, but we did make it Saturday. The number of boats and the fishing etiquette (or lack of) lived up to expectations. We had to sort through a number of shorts, but we did manage to bring home enough for a few meals. It was a fun experi...

steinhatchee River
I'm planning on fishing the steinhatchee river the next couple of days, thinking the trout will be seeking warmer water. I've got quite a bit of experience fishing the flats, but never fished the river. Would anyone be willing to share some real basic tips on what to use, where to look, etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Indian Pass Fishing
Hmm. Well it really wasn't supposed to be a fishing trip anyhoo :-D I threw some plastics on the gulf side one morning when I saw some bait and bird action, but only found tail biters. Went over to the bay side off of cape san blas and did some casting and snorkeling over there. Lots of bait fish an...

Re: Keaton Beach Marina
I've been using the Marina for around 20 years. I appreciate the service it provides and certainly love the proximity to the water. Loved Jerry and Joel before him, both seamed to understand that the Marina was a base-camp for fishermen. The new managers have done a really nice job of fixing the pla...

Indian Pass Fishing
My wife and I are taking a short Anniversary trip next weekend to Indian Pass. Since I don't do too well just sitting, and a guy can only drink so many margaritas, I'm thinking of throwing in a fishing rod and a few lures. So I'm wondering (1) if it is worth my time (although I will probably do it e...

Re: Lake Blackshear?
The Lake south of the railroad trestle that crosses the main lake is pretty clear of stumps. The area that has stumps is along the west side of the lake and is pretty clearly marked. If you run the middle or the east edge of the lake south of the RR you should be good to go. It's pretty packed on th...

Re: 4th of July fishing/scalloping at Keaton beach
Glad you were able to find some fish and scallops. Had the same experience with a trailer tire a week ago. Nothing like changing a tire in long grass in 90+ degree heat in S. GA.
