Re: T-Top vs. Bimini
I have a bimini top that goes on the boat when the family is on the boat or if fishing July through August. It’s usually only two of us fishing, and with the Bimini up it’s not really in the way and provides a lot of shade when needed. I do agree a T-top would provide a lot more utility such as rod ...

Re: Fishing the wind
Sometimes I will travel to fish higher winds. If the winds are strong out of the west I try to fish the Carrabelle/Lanark areas, that way the wind is coming off land and the chop won’t be so bad. strong winds out of the east, I fish Keaton Beach area. Sting north winds you can fish St. Mark’s/Aucill...

Re: Keaton 5/6-7: The Seapro rides again
Great report. Thanks for posting> We were gonna go Saturday but decided not to with the 20Knot onshore winds. Figured it would be white capping the whole time. :-D Saturday actually wasn't that bad until 530, it got rougher at lunch and then calmed a little, but I may be just so used to fishing in ...

Re: Question about the Panacea “Rock the Dock” tournament accessibility
Wouldn’t be concerned launching. Folks will be spread out all over. Between the tournament and grouper season I would t try to join the boat club Saturday morning. Thanks, I heard you could sign up while there but wasn’t sure, so that might be what we do. I used to launch from there a lot until sor...

Question about the Panacea “Rock the Dock” tournament accessibility
I am thinking of fishing the the Rock the Dock tournament this month, but my biggest concern is access to ramps. I assume it will be busy but just how busy? I would probably want to put in either in Panacea or Carrabelle. How insane are the boat ramps going to be? Would like to join the Lanark club ...

Re: Needing Home(s) for Tasty Pigs
That trap is really cool, how long does it take for them to calm down and stop trying to escape once it drops?

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
I’ve used my iPhone on the boat and it can be hard to see, have heard the same of iPads, but probably depends on the boat, if you have a t-top that would probably help a lot, I have Bimini top but don’t use it all the time.

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
Well, the $22 is for the app, the $800 is for the software, and the tablet including a screen, processors, case, sonar system, gps , etc. if you included the purchase of the app and the tablet, prices would be similar. But I’m not discounting your criticism of the navigation process on the Garmin, i...

Re: Fishing line????????????
I have switched to all braid, Sufix 832. Just recently re strung all my mono reels to braid. I also color coded the lines. Lime Green = 10lb, Costal Camo = 15lb , dark green = 20 lb. I also only buy rods with the tangle free guides to stop wind knots. But you do feel more, it takes some getting use ...

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
Yes, they are now. This was a very recent release. But you have to use Garmin Navionics chip or downloads, if you had a navionics card from a different mfd they will not work in the Garmin.

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
The relief shading just isn’t available where I fish, shallow water/inshore from Carabelle to Keaton beach. FMT looks interesting but it’s too much $ for what the type and amount of fishing I do.

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
I was in the same position as you about 15 months ago, I purchased the same package you are looking at, the 94sv with the GT 54 transducer. I was considering other units too, for the same reasons you are, better map options. I don’t fish as often as you but like you said, just for some fun. If I wen...
