September 22 and 23
Fished this weekend on the west flats. Had 3 young men fishing with me. Funny how if you have 3 pretty young women staying at the house, boys just start showing up. Anyway we fished the rising tide after breakfast and it was rougher than expected. water is still very tannin and there was a lot of fl...

Re: St. Marks, 9/8
Well done. I should have gone with you. We fished the Shell Point area Saturday and it was really tough. Water was dirty with a lot of floating grass and it was windier and rougher than predicted. Saw no birds and no bait. Caught some finger mullet in the castnet which we converted into 2 sharks and...

August 17-19
Had not been down to fish in a while so I was excited to get out on the water despite the reports of poor fishing and terrible water clarity. Fished alone Friday and found very tannin stained water with some floating grass. No action at all at my first two stops. Ran out looking for better water and...

Re: Annual Boy Scout Scalloping Trip
Don't worry about the scallop success or lack thereof. We used to take our troop to Spring Creek just to let them to let them swim with the wildlife. The kids still talk about it even though we never had much fishing success.

Re: East End - St George Island
It has been years since I have fished it, but we did catch some fish including bull reds. Also, hooked a lot of sharks. Those weights are big enough. Bring bait with you as we sometimes had a hard time catching baits there. It is a 4 wheel drive only track to get there.

Re: Let’s talk coolers
Very frustrating problem. I bought two big igloos for my trip to Venice and ripped the handles off of both of them the first trip. I don't want a big Yeti because I lift mine in and out of the boat every trip. Personally I solved the problem by removing the Igloo handles and putting eye bolts in eac...

Re: ST. Marks 6/30
Glad you got to go. I don't like fishing deep for trout, but sometimes you have to. I need a dose of saltwater therapy, but am not sure Fourth of July weekend is the best time to scratch that itch.

Re: What else can I do to avoid fuel problems and repairs?
Non-ethanol fuel. Stabil. Leave it full when it is sitting in storage. Run it as often as you can. Remember saltwater is very tough on stuff and some repairs are inevitable. BOAT acronym for bring out another thousand and defined as a hole in the water into which the owner pours money.
