Capt ff, I can understand what you mean, especially regarding the braid bedding in to the reel. Despite catching some large fish, I don,t consider bedding a major problem. I have never had it cause the line to break. Bedding causes problems with casting, but offshore we would not be casting braid, j...

Capt ff,
So when they sing "Way down upon the Suwanee River" they are referring to its depth?

Sorry, I couldn,t resist it.
I know I should have tried harder not to.

Capt ff, In freshwater I use braid to a wire leader when lure fishing, the quarry is northern pike and they have teeth. In saltwater lure fishing I use braid to a 4ft 50lb mono leader.Teeth aren,t such a problem here and the thicker mono can cope. Saltwater bottom fishing is braid down to the weight...

Junior, I wouldn,t presume to give you any advice on trout fishing line. You listen to your father, he,s forgotten more than I will ever know and after your catch the other day, you could show me a few things i,m sure. My comment regarding braid was because the developments of non stretch fishing br...

Junior, we have all had days like that, it just makes you remember how much sky there is all around the bird.
At least you saw some ducks, so there is always another day.
The trout more than made up for it.
I,m suprised you don,t use braid for trout, especially with the lures.

Junior, sounds like a busy day, do you use mono for the trout or are you on braid?
How successful was the duck shooting?
Looking on the duck reports they seem a bit late this year.

When I was a youngster I lived in the middle of nowhere (still do) on the edge of the River Thames estuary marshes.2 miles of marsh and grazing fields between the end of my garden and the river. On one day every year (Autumn time) the farmers held a Coot Shoot. Anybody who lived in the village, or w...

Fish Hawk, I saw the crowded water on Toms pics, not ideal, but fishable.
Be lucky and go and catch some, poor people like me have to go to the fish market.

We do eat a lot of fish in this house, regretfully very little of it caught by me.

Thanks Tom, I thought they were, but they looked a bit "small".
Please understand I am not casting aspersions, its just that the only other dead ones I have seen (2) were considerably bigger.
What is the size limit?

Thanks, that certainly sounds worth a try. One thing we do have is nice bread ,has to be uncut though, the presliced bread tastes "processed".
Noted the "colonist" comment
