Re: Sea grass in Deadman’s Bay ?

I haven't been to Keaton in a while, but the grass beds from St. Marks to Carrabelle were very very thin the last time I was out. Too much of that nasty moss and not enough of the good stuff as well.

Re: Where to scallop this summer

There hasn't been enough scallops out of Lanark since the first of three hurricanes came through and tore up the grass.

The only truly reliable place is the Steinhatchee area, from Keaton to Pepperfish Key.

True dis ... just talkin' bout production. I enjoy wetting the boat whether I put fish in the box or not, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I liked to pull'em in.

Less than 70 Degrees ... Waste of Time

Fished Friday afternoon on the falling tide out of Lanark. Caught a few, but nothing like normal at my spots. Noticed the temp was 68.5 or less. Saturday, I ran to a place where it was shallower and whenever we drifted into 70 degree water, the bite was on.

Re: SPANISH MACKS

Gut them as soon as possible. Filet and cut out the dark line. Grill skin side down with butter, lemon and garlic. Sprinkle cheese if you care too.

Secret is gutting quick and getting rid of the black line before freezing.

Yep, ramp is open, but parking is limited due a big spoil bag sitting in part of the parking lot.

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats

You have a tendency to be a smartarz. I fished first from wooden boats, then fiberglassed coated wooden boats, then fiberglass and then aluminum almost exclusively on the flats for 5 or so years. First outboard used in the gulf was a 9.5 and we thought we were in high cotton when we got an 18 Evinru...

Big Red Head, I would venture to guess that caught more fish before I turned 25 than you will ever catch in your entire life without dynamite.
