Piney Z 3-30-2014
The family and I had plans to hit Mashes Sands today but was awakened at 8am by a series of photo texts from my friend Ryan who was slaying bass at Piney Z. The weather app showed 14mph NNW wind and my wife and I decided it best that I hit Piney Z rather than take the kids on a miserable, cold beach...

Piney Z 3-27-2014
My wife and I dropped the kids off at preschool around 9am and shot to Piney Z for a couple hours of fishing. The weather was cloudy and windy with the temp hovering the mid 50s. C'mon hot weather! My wife landed her first bass ever at Piney Z around 10:30am on finger 6. Definitely under a pound. 30...

Piney Z - 3-23-2014
A friend Kyle and I hit the fingers at sunrise (7:45am). It was cloudy and in the low 60s for the first half of the morning. Caught our first bass around 8:30am on the 4th finger. 2 pounder. As we were walking to the 6th finger we saw a guy in a kayak lugging a huge bass onto finger 5. We later foun...

Crawfish trap?
Last weekend I hit the Wacissa and while flowing with the current I saw a crawfish (destroyed) on the river floor. It got me thinking...man is there a healthy crawfish population out here? If so, has anyone attempted to net or trap these guys? Does anyone have any advice on creating a trap or how ho...

Hunting Bushy Tails!
Oct. 12th looks to be the day Squirrel season starts! Now I'm some what new to this smoking gun deal because you will usually find me with a fishing rod in hand however, I believe this may be the easiest way to get into hunting like panfishing is for beginners. I've been given a deer rifle, a muzzle...

Wacissa River 9-29-2013
Wow! I haven't been to this river in almost 10 years and I didn't catch anything, BUT it was totally worth it! The clear water, the wildlife, the serenity. A true Florida experience. On to the report! Hit the water around 7 am. Air temp low 70s. Water temp was pretty darn cold. After looking at past...

Mashes Sands 9-7-2013
Hit Mashes Sands around 7am. Beautiful day! We fished on a falling tide, low low tide. Didn't take water temp but the air was in the mid 80s. We fished of the pier for about an hour. My buddy caught a nice sized whiting on a live shrimp. I caught a redfish and a flounder on a neon yellow jig head w/...

Re: St. Joseph’s Peninsula
I was just there 2 weeks ago. Check my post in the fishing reports under surf fishing. We camped at the first mile campsite. Beautiful scenery. Awesome fishing location! Wade out and fish the grass day and night. Throw jigs with paddle tailed plastics and Gulp shrimp under a Cajun Thunder. Watch out...

Piney Z 6-2-2013
Got out to Piney Z around 7:30am. Decided to shore fish today instead of taking the Pelican down. Over cast skies, high 70's air temp. Did not get water temp. Not too many people out this morning however there was atleast one person at the tip of every finger until finger 6. That's were all the acti...

Re: Fishing with a bad fishing forecast
I have not had much luck with the forecasts. Ive been out when everyone is slaying them only to come home empty handed and caught fish when the forecast said other wise. To be honest the best time to go fishing is when your able to go fishing.

Re: Lake Jackson 5/24
Man it's been rough out there lately. Was out there a few weeks ago and the only fish I caught was this chain pickeral on a crank bait. Last weekend my buddy went out and they boated 2 bass under a pound in a span of 5 hours. I feel your pain.

St. Joe State Park- Primitive Camping - 5-26-13
Hit the trail head around 1 pm and got to the campsite around 1:45pm. The view from the campsite was epic. Fished on a falling tide and was able wade out pretty far. We were surrounded by horse shoe crabs, stingrays, and sea urchins. Air temp was upper 80's. Did not get water temp. Partly cloudy. On...
