Re: Mercury Hesitating???

Sounds like your fuel air mixture it too lean when you open the throttle. When the throttle is opened, more force is applied to to the fuel and air going into the engine; since gas is denser than air, it is takes longer to respond to the increased force and not enough goes in. Some engines have an e...

Re: Scallops @ Econfina??

I went out today. The water was a little murky and you couldnt see them from the surface, but once you dived they were there. Just head the the birdrack and stop when you hit 8'. Also managed 6 trout today, so dont forget to bring your jigs!

Econfina Quick Trip 7-10

Went out for a few hours this afternoon with the wifey. We got our limits of scallops in around 45 mins and then I had some time to fish while she laid out and took a nap. Managed two keepers and plenty of shorts and catfish. Good way to spend a Sunday afternoon!! :D

Re: Cheap digital underwater camera?

I have an olympus stylus tough. It was a couple hundred dollars when I got it two years ago, but it takes great pictures and salt water doesnt hurt it at all. You cant go diving with it, but at snorkeling depths it is fine.

Re: Shark!!!

Wow! How'd you manage to land it? How long was the fight? How did you manage to release it? Did you walk it out? Did it swim straight away? Maybe dragging it into the sand would be OK...but the release would FREAK me out! Fought it for about 45 mins to an hour until it was about knee deep water and...

Re: Scallop season opens next saturday...

Anyone tried them whole? We got some mussels from olive garden, which are whole, on monday, and it got me thinking what a whole scallop tastes like. Thoughts? I would think the shell might be a bit crunchy, probably a good source of calcium though. All joking aside, I have eaten them whole raw befo...

Re: ID this dead snake please

I killed a cottonmouth that looked alot like that a few years ago. The body seems much too short and fat to be a constrictor. If you still have the snake turn it over and look at the tail. If the tail is one scale across after the anus then it is a viper (cottonmouth). It it splits to two scales the...

Carolina Skiff Opinions

I am looking at upgrading from the Bass Tracker that I have now to something with a little more fishing space and a little more saltwater friendly (i.e. something isn't corroding out all the time). I am looking at a few 17 foot Carolina Skiff V-series boats, but have a few reservations I was hoping ...

Re: Any Port St. Joe reports?

Caught a few trout and a flounder around Blacks Island last week. Had better luck with the Pompano on the beach.

Shark!!!

One of the advantages to teaching is that every year you get a spring break. Me and some of my teacher friends have been staying on Cape San Blas for a few days this week and decided to do some shark fishing. Took a couple if bottom fishing rigs, put a steel leader and hook on them, and baited them ...

Re: Boat Radio Problem: Any Suggestions

Perko makes battery switches. If you get down and turn it on and off about 20 times you might can knock any corrosion off if that is what is causing your problem. As for the radio turning off 5 -10 seconds afterward... that is due to the capacitors in the subwoofer amp backfeeding through the radio ...

Re: Boat Radio Problem: Any Suggestions

I assume the red switch is the battery disconnect. If there is some corrosion inside the switch it could cause a lousy connection which can result in a voltage drop. If this is the case your devices which are dependant on internal transformers, capacitors, and inductors (like radios) would stop work...
