Re: Contracting the Coronavirus
I think a lot of the concern for this has to do with the fact that the flu is already going around, and now this is added to it. If you catch Covid-19, will you not die.... at least its not statistically likely unless you are old. But if it spreads around and puts older people in the hospital, then ...

Re: Spring Fishing Seminar
It was definitely worth going to. Now I gotta see if I can take what I learned and catch redfish consistently.

Re: Is this toll road going to destroy the forgotten coast?
Where is the road going? All I can find online is a proposed route that hits Ga south of Valdosta.

Re: Chilly February
We got on the water yesterday at St. Marks. It was much slower than last weekend. We hit all our winter holes and the fish would bite too slow to make you want to stay on the spot, but just enough where you couldn't leave. We picked a couple up by the fort, a few down river off an oyster bar, and a ...

Re: St. Marks 1/25
We caught them all on plugs. Mostly gold, but a few on other colors. I don't think we caught a single fish on gulps all day.

St. Marks 1/25
We decided to give St. Marks a try this weekend because the water finally looked cold enough for the fish to be up river. I like to check the water temp in Apalachicola on the noaa website, and once it gets below 60° we usually have good luck in the St. Marks. We started by the boat ramp and caught ...

Econfina 12/15
Went to Econfina for the first time in a long time yesterday. Planned on a late start because of the tides, and still had to wait for almost an hour once we were there as there was no water in the river. gator.JPG Once we were able to get out, we stopped and fished in the river toward the mouth. Cau...

St. George Island Late December
I'm taking the family down camping on St. George at the end of December. I plan to take some fishing gear down, but I am not sure where my best luck will be. I won't have my boat, so I'll be fishing from shore, and I've never surf fished in December. Should I stay gulf side and just try for whiting ...

Re: Too Fast, Too Furious - St. Marks Drift (Oct. 6th)
I've used a drift sock for years. I really recommend getting a crab trap buoy and tying it to the end of your drift sock rope. That way if something big bites you can just untie and throw it overboard if you have to chase a fish down, then just go back and get your drift sock when the fight it over.

Re: Bird Racks
Bird poop hasn't been widely used for fertilizer since the Haber process for synthesizing ammonia was created and commercialized after WW1. It was my understanding that the racks were used for practicing locking onto targets for military planes.

Re: Mangrove snapper
I used to catch them pretty regularly in the St. Marks River. Live shrimp, a small hook, and fluorocarbon leader did the trick.

That is an oddly very precise weight for a shark that was tagged in 2016.

Keaton Beach 3/31
Spent a couple days at Keaton this weekend. If the size limit was 14" we would have caught 100 keepers. Managed to get our limit though, just had to wade through all the shorts. Water temp was around 67, bait of choice was a gold mirrodine, depth was 5 feet in grass.
