Re: Fish bit someone at St marks sandbar

Can they open their jaws that wide? Seems like if they wanted to bite someone there wouldn't be much flesh left.

Re: SPANISH MACKS

Resurrecting this thread for a little input. I've always tossed Spanish Macks back until reading this thread convinced me to keep the next one I caught. We had a rough day this weekend fishing and caught one good keeper fish, a Spanish Mackerel. Brought it home, filleted per instructions above makin...

Re: St. Mark’s 5/15

I got stuck doing chores in the morning, so we went out in the afternoon (about 2) and fished east like you did. I was fishing a little farther out than marker 10 to get into 3-6 feet, essentially just short of the sandbar. The wind was cranking and we were drifting quite a bit faster than I like. A...

Re: FSUS Ducks Unlimited Tournament (Redfish & Trout)

You deserve a ticket if you bring a short fish to tournament scales. you’re allowed to have a trout over 19, so putting it in the weighmaster’s hand doesn’t automatically mean an angler broke a law. If you bring a red over 27” it’s a bad look. Not saying I agree with the rule (I don’t), but it make...

Hydro-Shield

Anyone ever use a hydro-shield on their outboard? Does it offer significant benefits over a standard skeg guard?

Re: FSUS Ducks Unlimited Tournament (Redfish & Trout)

Confirmed that the rule is intentional and is in place to prevent illegal fish from being harvested for the tournament.

Does seem a bit weird to only do it for one species.

I didn't catch that. That's a little strange. I'll email and ask.

You were probably just mixing it up with NFRS this weekend. ;-)

Re: St. Marks April 26 report

We got on the water around 8:30 and went east from the river. Caught a bunch of shorts and a few keeper trout along with some ladyfish.

Wind was cranking in the morning, but man did it turn into a beautiful day.

I didn't realize there was a floating version and yes, I did buy the floating version.

That might be my problem. :-D

Re: PAUL BROWN LURES BY MIRROWLURE

Picked up a Fat Boy in Texas Chicken (pink top, chartreuse belly, orange bottom/back) and tried in on the east flats today. Never got a single nibble. Tried twitch/twitch/pause, straight retrieve, and even a little left/right action. No joy. I thought with the bluebird skies it would do well, but th...

If I thought I could make the money she does by fishing in a bathing suit all day... Unfortunately, the market for people willing to pay to see my hairy ass is somewhat smaller. At least there's some "talent" and work involved in what she does. The haulover and boat ramp dudes just set up ...

Re: Miami Boat Ramps

I'm too embarrassed to admit how many hours I've watched that channel, but it's damn addictive. I'm also ashamed that I didn't have the foresight to set up a camera at a boat ramp, post the content to YouTube, and make it a very well paying career. Props to that guy.
