Re: The trout seem to have worms right now

SG, I found a youtube video by "fishyourassoff.com" that described the full worm life cycle of shark/shrimp (or baitfish)/trout/back to shark. No scientific references, but the description does follow well-documented parasitic worm life cycles. Maybe this is similar to what you read.

Re: Panacea Tournament Results!!

Is Woodville Ace 5pm the WEIGH-IN site/time for July 9? I'm assuming the meeting on July 7 is at Walk-0ns.

Re: The trout seem to have worms right now

I like to catch & cook worms from Apalachee Bay. Mostly I find them in seatrout. I just eat the trout along with the worms.

Re: What am I doing wrong

Brian, as usual, you are the voice of reason. When somebody asks somebody else where they caught fish, there is a balance between... 1) In the mouth. 2) 400 meters inside Big Cove entrance near the east bank, where there is a gradual dropoff from the first oyster bar, 30 minutes before the end of lo...

Re: What am I doing wrong

Hey Ropeman, Yep that was me. The trout/reds are definitely biting in the SMNWR creeks. If you can throw a cast net in the little side creeks or canals near the lighthouse and collect some mudminnows, they are like candy in the tidal creeks. Horns Creek and Stoney Bayou are holding lots of good fish...

Re: October Fly Tie Night!!

Super! I'll trade you my box of 20 classic Oregon steelhead flies for a handful of streamer patterns. Will be in touch! No rush, I won't need them until the next CCA tourny starts in May.

Re: October Fly Tie Night!!

Any wet fly that a redfish or seatrout might mistake for a mudminnow (killifish aka bull minnow OR banded killifish aka tiger minnow). My rig is a 7wt, with slow sinking line.

Not sure anybody has use for my steelhead flies (not too many salmon around here!) but they are pretty.

Re: October Fly Tie Night!!

If anybody attending has a half-dozen saltwater streamers that they are willing to trade for 20 classic Al Brunell (Google him) Oregon Steelhead flies, let me know and I will be at the meeting.

And thanks to Jay Fishburn and crew for making it all happen. Your efforts are appreciated, especially when the task is harder due to sucky weather.

Re: NFGFC 2022 INFORMATION

Brian's doubly right, RockyG. Wadefishing in NFGFC tournaments was prohibited maybe 5-6 years ago. And Redtrout/Seatrout Shootout tourneys were always boat-only. Moot point anyway. I don't have any right knee cartilage left for wading, so the Torqeedo electric motor beast that swamped two of my cano...

Re: East River Spillway

That's an easy launch spot for a kayak or canoe near the origin of the East River. One of the few spots I kayak fish around either side of high tide. Some overslot trout will swim that far up from the bay on a big tide, but I have never caught a red over 21" there. Old-timers tell me the sheeps...

Re: the older I get

Maybe "Knee Issues" should have its own forum topic header. I had surgery on my right knee two months ago, and it still won't bend through full range of motion. Can still kind of wade and kayak fish, but getting into/out of the yak looks like an "America's Funniest Home Videos" a...

Re: Aucilla fishing trip 1/7-8

Very moving. Dad sparked my obsession with fishing 50 years ago, but at age 87, he's losing the race against time. Mom wants me to get him out on the water a time or two before it is too late and then I'll have regrets for not completing the circle. That's my New Year's resolution. Thanks for the mo...
