Re: Shrinkage

Another great thing about ice slush, if a fish is thrown in ice slush, her blood will be moved to her vital organs ( brain, heart and kidneys) and out of the flesh. Less blood in the muscle makes for a nice fillet. Better for hypothermia to kill them than hypoxia( lack of oxygen), also arguably more...

Re: great day with Rand and Ralph

Casey, that was probably us. We swung in close to a couple of pontoon boats but couldn't make you out. I thought we were supposed to be in by noon, but I guess we could have stayed out longer. Again, we had a blast and definitely want to do it again next year. We'll look for you out on the water, I'...

great day with Rand and Ralph

Konrad and I had the opportunity to take a couple of guys fishing through HHA on saturday. We had a great time. Left shields around 7:30 and headed to stony bayou. The wind was blowing 15 from the south, and one of our guys gets seasick easily, so we decided against drifting the flats and headed for...

Konrad, I'm sure your using a bimini twist to a "no name" knot just like your idol Mark Sosin.

Re: New to the Area

Look at forgotten coast kayak association website. Great map of places to put in. Ochlockonee bay, wakulka beach and hickory mound are my favorite yak spots. Be patient and learn the area, you'll be frying trout in no time.

Congrats Jason, that's excellent work. I'd ask you where you were fishing, but I'm sure you wouldn't tell the truth. Seriously though, great job

Re: Dog Island reef?

I've not yet fished this year, but have fished there around this time the last few years when it gets warm and I need to bend a rod. We usually drift the spotty bottom casting spoons, jerkbaits and plugs and usually get into plenty of Spanish macs, bluefish, ladyfish and some nice trout. Cobia may s...

Re: New to the Area

I am also a transplant from SE Alabama and grew up bass and bream fishing. Moved to the area and fell in love with inshore fishing. It's almos the same tackle and techniques. Topwater plugs, spinnerbaits and jigs with soft plastics make up 90% of my arsinal. A johnboat, canoe or kayak can get you a ...

Re: Prefishin for RT Shootout 4-11-10

We did ok. Only had 2 guys this time. Got a nice red, but couldn't find that big trout. Took 2nd in the big red Calcutta, but our 18" trout didn't help us. Needed a 3.5 pounder to get in the top 10. Nice day though, we had a great time at the weigh in. Will we see you out there this weekend, or...

Re: Catfish avoidance

Agree with CT, I have caught both sailcats and hardheads on skitterwalks. Didn't know anyone else had that kind of luck. Good to know it happens to others also. I think Florida sportsman had an article last year praising sailcat meat and that they were sold commercially in Texas.

Re: Take a Kid Fishing

Sorry fellas, just found out may 15 is out for me. If it gets postponed, please post it. I'd probably be able to get a few more boats. We also have 2 kayaks and could get 2 more if anyone was planning a kayak excursion for the older ones. We could probably get an experienced kayak angler or two if n...
