Spring Creek 2/19

Skag and I hit Spring Creek early yesterday and found more fog than fish. It was cold and blowing, tide falling pretty hard. We fished three super-secret red spots with nary a bite. Went over to a spring boil and had fun with some small sheepies and butter trout. Off the water and back home in time ...

St. Marks, 1/10/06

Beautiful weather we've been having made me take a day off to go out and "chase the fishies," as I believe the saying goes. Got to the lighthouse after 9:00, water was coming in nicely after the morning negative low. Fished East River and a couple of creeks east of the lighthouse on the ri...

St. Marks 10/20

Got out of the office early yesterday and decided to fish out of the lighthouse. Put the boat in around 2:30, fished the end of the rising tide in East River. Caught 6 really nice reds and 2 specks. Headed out to the flats right in front of the lighthouse and caught trout after trout after trout unt...

Ol' Skag is out at St. Marks today trying to find a redfish. Judging from where I saw him on Sunday and the way he said he was heading back to the ramp on high tide, that is his track.

Hey now, there was only the occassional hoot when I caught another keeper. Ended up with a nice limit of specks to fry up last night. My relocated family (from New Orleans) gives high marks to our north Florida fish. My father still cannot get over our limits, though.

I was out there Saturday, also. Stayed up East River virtually all day to avoid the wind. Caught a couple dozen reds, only two were in the slot, all went back to be caught another day. Caught a few nice trout to 19 inches. They were not as lucky as the redfish, and found their way to the cooler. Wan...

Yup, I hit St. Marks Friday and Sunday with similar luck. Fished mainly East River and the bars in front of the lighthouse, with a couple of ventures to the Rock Garden area and some nearshore deeper spots. Complete biodiversity trips. Caught grunt, pinnners, stingrays, cats, ladyfish, tons of short...

Forget Belize City. It's a den of thieves. Time permitting, get on a puddle hopper or even one of the high-speed ferries to Ambergris Caye and get a guide there. You can find them via the internet before you go or just walk along the beach and the piers and ask around. BIG tarpon and nice little sna...

Leaf Springs & Rust

Just replaced the leaf springs on my trailer. Royal pain in the you-know-what, but at least RMS made it cheap. I seem to recall a discussion on the other board about ways to slow the rusting of leaf springs, but couldn't find it. Any suggestions? I certainly appreciate it. Don't want to have to repl...

Great job!!! I just replaced a bunch of hardware on my trailer, with more to be replaced (including bunks). I just bought all new stuff and sawzawed the old stuff into oblivion.

And I have been wondering where in hades your boat has been. Damn scary to see a man's lonely trailer in the drive.
