Rockin' Reds Tournament Day 1 In The Books

With 89 boats registered, there will be some great payouts as this tournament returns all of the entry fees back to the winners. Day 1 saw team Red Hounds haul in $500 for having the largest Redfish weighed in (7.71 lbs) and team Shotgun Sunday also collected $500 for weighing in the largest Snapper...

Re: Scalloping 4th of July weekend

We hit St. Marks today, I suspect there were no less than 100-125 boats around. We had 6 folks in the water and it took quite a few stops and several hours to get a boat-limit. That being said, it was a great day on the water with family and friends nonetheless.

Re: Wakulla County Tripling Launch Fees To Non-Residents

The Annual Boat Ramp Passes are $40. For Seniors, Veterans, and folks with disabilities, the cost is $25/year (you will need to have proof for those discounts). Passes can be purchased at Crum's, Stow-Away Marine, Rocky's, Marshall Spears Inc (Used to be RMS, then AMS, a couple of miles past the hig...

Re: Wakulla County Tripling Launch Fees To Non-Residents

There weren't even any pay envelopes at Rock Landing. I wrapped a $5 bill in a note with my tag number, because i appreciate that they aren't being fishing nazis. Yeah, staff has been limited due to COVID-19. Thanks for being honest and putting the money in the till. If you are gonna fish the Wakul...

Wakulla County Tripling Launch Fees To Non-Residents

Understanding the law of supply and demand, the Wakulla County Commission is now tripling the boat launch fees to non-residents and limiting the number of non-residents that can launch each day..... I'm just bull-skanking with ya'll. I cruised through some of the other posts and things looked like t...

Wakulla County Boat Ramps

The video attached from the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce's Facebook Page pretty well sums up how we feel about our boat ramps being open and what our businesses will do to ensure you can come on down, fish, and do it all safely. There is also a video from Shield's Marine done the week before o...

Re: New Trout Rules Approved

I attended the meeting in Gadsden County and advocated for keeping the 5 fish limit in place for our area (Big Bend). However, I also expressed support of closing the winter season which didn't get adopted. Personally, I see the changes implemented as a positive first step towards addressing the con...

Re: Errors in the trout assessment

I attended the May FFWCC Meeting and spoke on this very issue and discussed their selection of data for proposing the changes. For their SPR they didn't use their own friggen statistical model, meaning the model "they" FFWCC created themselves was evaluated for the rule, but wasn't applied...

FWC Trout Limit 5 to 3 Update

I noted that some folks were discussing the FFWCC's (FWC) staff proposal of reducing the trout limit in our area from 5 to 3, however, I didn't see any updates. In turn, below is an update for you all, with some added personal opinion from myself. I was made aware of the proposed change less than tw...

Re: Recycling fiberglass boats

I'm glad they are looking at options for these vessels. During Hurricane Irma we dealt with hundreds of displaced fiberglass vessels down in the Keys that had to be destroyed. Unfortunately, they ended up crushed and in a landfill. Although the actual amount of fiberglass being recycled via the prop...

Re: Bottoms Road ramp

How good is the Bottoms Road ramp for a small boat? Thanks for any advice. It's not too bad of a ramp for a small boat, I've launched both an 18 foot aluminum boat there easily. Watch the tides and make sure you do not leave any valuables in your vehicle, unfortunately, items have been stolen from ...

Single Owner 2005 Z-71 For Sale

After 14 years of driving Roxie (kids named my truck), momma said I could upgrade to a new Z-71. In turn, Roxie is up for sale. KBB has a range of 6-8K. I'm putting her up for sale at 6K, but before I put her on Craigslist, etc, I wanted to post her for sale here. I'm the original owner, she has abo...
