Re: Fishing the wind
Good points. My nephew like to tell of his trip in the early spring where he was fishing his little 14" aluminum. He said they were bouncing around like a cork in the waves and absolutely tearing up the reds on a gold spoons. He said they only left because their trolling motor ran out of batter...

Nice bird. I know where you killed him and I know where he came from! :smt006 :smt005 Those are some nice spurs. He thought he was a smart bird where he was, but you knew better! Great job. I am friends with Ken. He sent me one of those pics. I hit that place a few times after you and never heard on...

Re: In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to ... TURKEY
Buddy with me killed one on opening day. I killed one opening Sunday. Classic hunt. Heard him gobble about 11:30 in a deep draw and by 12:00 he was headed out for a truck ride. Nephew connected a few days later, brother a week after that. I put away the 20 and got the 410 out, really wanted to take ...

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar
I have same unit. Came with boat. I also just felt like I would not really trust FMT that much either. Not that it is not great, if I were a tourney guy I might. I am so far happy with it. It is such a massive upgrade over my old one it feels so much nicer. Plenty for my needs. G3 and G3 vision have...

Re: SKEG Repair
One of y'all engineer types develop a "break away" skeg. 2 bolts. Will break off when it hits and the lower unit is designed to allow it to snap away with no damage. Keep a spare on the boat at all time. Then get the engine manufacturers to offer a break away skeg option on their outboards...

Re: Running From Mouth of St Marks River to Aucilla River flats
Re I am in agreement with Red Beard. It doesn't take a rock much smaller than a soccer ball to ruin your lower unit or your day. These do not show up on maps. The best tool you have is your eyes.Although time consuming, several trips on a low tide exploring at low speed or idle speed is the way to ...

Re: Running From Mouth of St Marks River to Aucilla River flats
Depends on what your unit was preloaded with. I have the exact model as that and it was preloaded with the Bluechart G3. Look on Garmin for the extras that come with getting the BlueChart G3 Vision or the Navionics+ Vision and see if you want those features. I think the regular is fine, but I will p...

3/5/22 trip
Went out about lunch time on Saturday. My two guests had never fished with me, one is a hard core bass fisherman, the other fished Mississippi area. I think they were pretty worried at first, even though I told them not to expect much, we were just killing time on the flats until the tide moved in a...

Re: What am I doing wrong
4 answers and 270 views! So if it is just 2 guys in each boat, that will only be 540 people. Unless some bring a third, then Rocky's estimate is pretty close.

Re: What am I doing wrong
Probably nothing. During the cold time of year it is more hunting than fishing. For me, I just move spots especially quick. If I pick up a fish, I tend to try to figure out why and replicate. We had a day like that a couple years back and it taught me a good lesson. Two boats, one fish in 4 hours. W...

In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to ... TURKEY
(us old men too). Buddy that deer hunts a new lease I am in had three birds gobbling all around him on the last weekend in January. Pretty stoked for another spring. Goals: 1) Enjoy the days afield and the battles with birds. Win or lose. 2) Kill a bird with the 410 I have rigged for my grandson. Wh...
