Re: Working on Capt. License
As you work on your technique to catch hogfish, I hope you post on this website your experiences about what works and what doesn't. I targeted hogfish for the first time a few months ago. I fished a live or freshly dead shrimp on a knocker rig in 30-35 feet of water. After catching many grunts, porg...

Re: Trolling Motor Power issue
I've had trolling motor issues, too. Consider checking whether your batteries are holding a charge and whether your charger is working. I replaced my trolling motor batteries thinking that they would no longer hold a charge after 3 years. (Regular batteries probably are near the end of their useful ...

2021 recreational red snapper season
The Federal Gulf Fisheries Management Council made some decisions today that seem likely to increase the red snapper red catch limits in the Gulf off Florida by at least 6%. Many of us were expecting a greater increase in the snapper allotment because we’re releasing snapper all the time and because...

When checking the in-line fuse, don't be a dummy (like me), and forget to ensure the fuse is securely in place.

Re: New boat question
I like the Robalo Caymans. I've used my 206 Cayman to catch tout, flounder, tripletail, red snapper, gag grouper, and more.

Re: Dehookers/hook remover
I've been using one of those stainless steal tube spring ones for years and they are the best you can buy. I just went on-line to look for them so I could give you a link to the exact one I use but could find it. There are a lot on the market now that are similar but they all have one BIG issue. Th...

Dehookers/hook remover
I am looking for advice on hook removers from someone who has tried/bought them all so I don’t have to. I’ve been using one of these spring-loaded tube type hook removers for years. However, when trying to remove a larger 8/0 hook stuck deep in the throat of a grouper or snapper, these hook removers...

Red Snapper
On Friday, my friends and I launched the boat at Carrabelle in hopes of making use of the last few days of the extended red snapper season. (Thank you, Governor DeSantis.) We eased our way through the fog, and loaded the live well with pinfish and pigfish. When the fog would clear enough to see, we ...

Menhaden Oil v. Milk--What's the Difference?
I've seen menhaden oil and menhaden milk for sale recently, but I can't seem to find anything that explains the differences between the two or why, when, or how one would use one instead of the other. Can anyone explain these products to me? Thanks.

Re: Weird Fishing Technique that Works
I've read about this before but they boiled the noodles in crab boil which didn't make sense because it isn't a natural taste. Did you use regular water or season them with something? I bet fish oil would work pretty good. I gave the macaroni noodles a little squirt of menhaden oil. I have read the...

Weird Fishing Technique that Works
It's a good thing that I didn't give up on a technique I learned on YouTube for catching mangrove snapper. A fishing buddy laughed at me, but he is not laughing now. I've proven that macaroni can be used as chum and bait for mangrove snapper. I made my first attempt at chumming up the mangroves seve...
