Steinhatchee 5/1-5/5/23
My wife and I just returned from a few days fishing ( notice I didn’t say catching) at Steinhatchee. Arrived Monday to 20-35 mph wind’s directly out of the west so did put the boat in the water but NEVER considered leaving the dock. Tuesday dawned much better and we headed W to around Clay/Dallus cr...

Re: Get some reports started
I agree! Sure wish folks would post/reply more. Don’t think anyone is looking to “steal” any spots and we all know that fishermen, including me, are liars but I’m assuming that lotsa folks just want to vicariously share experiences. And some like me live hundreds of miles from St. Marks or Steinhatc...

Any St. Marks Reports?
Am headed to Bainbridge, Ga. from Augusta to help babysit a 3 yr and 1 month old grandson while their dad goes to the Masters for couple of days. If the weather cooperates and schedule allows I may try to slip away for a short day trip to St. Marks. Does anyone have any recent reports that they migh...

Re: Crystal River Shallow Water Grouper
We have a Garmin Echomap plus 74sv but gotta admit we fish 99+% of the time in water 1-4 feet deep so mainly use the navigation capabilities and not the bottom reading. I don’t mind hiring a guide but it’s so much more satisfying to try and figure out new places.

Crystal River Shallow Water Grouper
I have seen numerous fishing shows on shallow water grouper fishing out of Crystal River. I have never fished there but would love to give it a try. Tried to get on Capt Brandon Branch’s schedule a year ago but he was basically booked every day season was open. Can a newbie to that area possibly saf...

St. Marks Update?
My son and I are hoping to get a day trip to St.Marks in sometime in the next couple of weeks before his second child is born and he goes into “nursery arrest.” Any updates on what’s been happening there and any results. We are relatively new fishing that area. Last year bout this time we took a sim...

Inshore live bait reel?
I primarily fish light tackle artificials of various kinds while on the flats but often like to drag a live bait while doing so in hopes of that stray cobia, large trout, or really anything. I have been using the Ambassador 6500C3 as I like it’s size and dependability but I DO NOT LIKE it’s clicker....

Meant to say Dec 6, I’m here right now just waiting a bit for water to rise before heading out.

Steinhatchee Nov 6
Went west yesterday towards Dallus Creek, so foggy till almost noon you couldn’t see from one channel marker to the next and avoiding crab trap floats once on plane was an adventure. Water is clear as gin and water temps around 65-66 and seagrass looks awesome. Only problem was the fish weren’t biti...

JUMBO Shrimp
I’ve been seeing on the Sea Hag Marina’s weekly newsletter pictures of absolutely HUGE shrimp they say are being castnetted. Not much of a castnetter and really haven’t fished Steinhatchee much this time of year but have been fishing Steinhatchee 50+ years and never seen anything like this. Anybody ...

St Joe and Apalachee Bay triple tails
Has anybody seen or heard of much triple tail action yet in either bay or is it still a little early?

Re: Apalachee Bay Questions
Thx Showboat, the real beauty of early morning topwater is the getting back to the house before the ladies and kids really get moving good thus avoiding potential tensions and/or bloodshed.

Re: Apalachee Bay Questions
Thx for the info especially the 7:30 am opening time as topwater is our preferred method, that’s one of the reasons we loved St George Island so much, with a yearly pass you could get the boat in the water at the state park before daylight, run maybe a mile to Rattlesnake Pt fish/catch all you want ...

Apalachee Bay Questions
Realize it’s on the northern end of Big Bend Fishing but we are headed to Cape San Blas first week in June for a family vacation but will take our 20 ft Pathfinder for some St Vincent Bay fishing. Never been to San Blas, vacationed on St George last 5-6 years but they DOUBLED the rental rates for th...
