Re: Here Kitty Kitty

Great report Red! Well done on giving those kids a great summer memory and putting him on a trout that is bigger than I've ever landed on a flyrod. 22" is about it for me so far. Love the approach of longterm sustainability of the fishery and what a close to 25" trout means to that goal. T...

Re: Nice rig

A buddy of mine texted me a picture of it a few months ago. Someone local owns it and yes, there are quad 350's on it. 1400 HP.

Re: Found Fly Box

I lost 2 boxesThursday at Shell Pt. Discovered just today as we were about to go out. Figured they bounced off the deck as i was hightailing in from storm or at the ramp when i took off, it was raining hard and was in a hurry. Am looking into this a bit further. Will post the outcome as I shared a ...

Re: Covid at JR's

Big Bend Gyrene, a good and reasonable post. My opinion is that herd immunity (and it may be the ultimate result/resolve) is going to require that 60-70% of the population get Covid and even at a death rate of 1% that's 2,000,000 people dead. For the short term I'm hopeful that with the use of masks...

Re: Covid at JR's

Two 17 year olds have died from "the Corvid" in Florida. I know that they're the exception, not the rule. A couple hundred thousand will die from "the Corvid" this year and most of them will be elderly, will die alone and will be sorely missed by their families. Doing what you ca...

Yeah, anecdotally I've heard bikes, campers, kayaks and now boats are selling like hotcakes. Glad I already have all of them covered.

Re: Mashes sands. FYI

fish10, if you don't have any Dupre's gold spoon flies, they have them at Fisherman's Choice in Eastpoint and the beauty of that is they are $1.50 less than they are when you buy them online. I like the gold as well as the dark red. Decent option when you're blind fishing and Reds will eat them more...

Re: Smooth Puffers

Invasive, typically chasing warmer water. Had an issue years ago in PSJ areas, but this is the worst I've seen them here in as far as I remember. Pure trash, but a heck of a fight on light tackle... they'll strike anything ! sent from the Ketchup Packet That's fersure, I got one on a fly in March.

Re: Franklin County Ramps

For what it's worth, there have only been 2 cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County. I bet the people that live there aren't mad about non-residents being inconvenienced re: beach and ramp access. I empathize with the property owners who weren't able to go down to their places and weren't able to launc...

Re: Reading Material (Fish/Ocean Related)

I recently read Mangrove Lightning by Randy Wayne White. It's my first Doc Ford read but I'd pick up more of the books. It's a light, mystery type book that follows a wildlife biologist, his pot smoking pal and his flyfishing guide girlfriend. I

Re: Ideal fishing conditions for Apalachee Bay

As a fly guy, breeze under 10 and I'm happy. Oh, and some water movement is nice. And some wildlife to watch. Hate when there's no birds flying, dolphins swimming, mullet jumping, turtles coming up for air. Ideal time to fish Apalachee Bay...for the rest of our lives. 8wt, am heading back to Montan...

Re: Flats reports???

I worked all day but got out about 6 PM to find the water glass like. Went to the edge of the SP grass flat and threw a Gurgler fly. First cast was a good indicator of what was to come as the Ladyfish were slashing and slamming the fly. Only fished from about 6:15-7:15 and didn't get any of the targ...
