Lanark reef
Fished Lanark yesterday am. Pretty much had it to myself. Tarpon gone? Only got 1 poormans tarpon. Had a nice size shark of some sort pass under the yak, that was kinda cool.
Accident
There was a bad accident just west of Medart on 98 involving boat trailer and car a few hours ago. Be careful out there.

Re: ST Marks NWR - 25 June 2017
Fished NWR yesterday in that blow. Impossible to get to the lighthouse bar in my yak so tucked toward east creek. Only one short trout but did get to see a dolphin herding mullet up against the shoreline. Finally got to lighthouse bar late but nothing around, at least for me. Tough day throwing a fly.

Wakulla beach
Fished Wakulla Beach oyster beds late afternoon to dusk on the fly. Stiff wind and very stained water. Only one short trout. No signs of life other than an occasional bird. Not even a mullet jumping. Oh well maybe better next time.....

After following this thread I'm thankful for being in a yak! Less stress.

Re: Here we go again...
Realisticly, I would hope that the "man" would not even ask the question. However I can definitely see a John Morgan attorney going after a person in a wrongful death or injury in case of an accident.

Re: Would you still fish if you couldn't keep anything?
Already do. Seldom keep anything, but once I'm set up I probably will keep a few for the grill. Look how many target tarpon and bones and have no expectation of meat in the pot. I put ladyfish and carp in there also. As long as something is pulling back and its on a fly, I'm happy.

Keep one and turn back the others. The only reason the commercial guys are on the water is that there are countless of us, myself included, that readily order fish at the restaurant or market.

Re: Saltwater Fly Newbie
Agree your present outfit will be fine. Would recommend a reel that is salt resistant whenever you can. Other than the floating line, a clear intermediate comes in handy. I haven't had a chance to fish inlets or passes yet, but a sink tip for them would be useful. I use a lot of clousers but also us...

Re: Puffer fish
Caught one on the fly and wasn't aware of the inflate. Took me aback at first. Have caught several "different" species since coming to the Bend. Makes the catching more interesting. Plus adds to a species list!
