Re: Registering a boat trailer

I don't think the DMV will allow you to calculate the weight. They want something official. It's easy to do in St Marks.

Re: Registering a boat trailer

There is a scale in St Marks. You can launch your boat and tie it up at Shields while you weigh the trailer.

Re: 21" Maverick M/A

I don't have the 21 Maverick MA, but I do have the Redfisher 21 and you are welcome to take a look at it. I also moved up from a smaller boat and considered a bay boat at that time as I like to fish offshore as well. The 21MA can do both.

Re: Fiberglass work

Epoxy has better adhesive qualities, therefore it is preferred by many. Poly is ok if the surface is prepared well and there is sufficient surface area for adhesion. A mat surface is porous and should be covered with some type of gel coat to prevent water absorption.

Crooked Island

Heading over to St Joe later this week and thought I might try something a little different. Any recommendations for fishing around Crooked Island and if so is the ramp that I see in there okay to use? Boat is a larger flats boat.

Thanks!

Re: Flats boats to consider?

As far as "flats boats" I admit I am partial to my Hewes, but you cannot go wrong with Skeeter or Action Craft. Both are great "flats boats".

Re: Electrical switch question

You don't; no grounds on a battery switch. The three terminals are Battery 1, Battery 2 and the starter.

Port St Joe offshore advice

Does anyone here ever fish offshore from Port St Joe? I am looking for some advice on bottom fishing in deeper water. I would like to try a little 200ft plus fishing, but have never been over there for that. Don't need any specifics, but just some advice.

Thanks.

Re: Rod Holder Repair Question

Having just done so much of this I would offer the following: Marine Tex is a strong epxoy filler and works great if you are not going to drill out most of what you apply. If you have to drill out the majority of the Marine Tex to replace the screws it will fail again. Epoxy with glass strands(rip u...
